Sseninde to bring Man United star Juan Mata to Uganda?

Jean Sseninde has joined forces with Manchester United star Juan Mata ahead of the second edition of her initiative, Sseninde Women's Development Cup.

This initiative by the Uganda international and Crystal Palace Ladies defender is aimed at developing women’s football at the lowest level in all parts of Uganda and was launched in December 2016.

And given the success in its inaugural year, efforts have been made to ensure a much better turnout this year.

Amongst those who’ve taken akin interest is World Cup winner and United star, Mata.

The Spanish international has collaborated with the 23-year-old in her search for female footballers that are looking for a chance to play football. 

“The preparations for a successful Sseninde Women Development Football Cup are underway,” the defender told Kawowo Sport.

“This tournament is for young girls and women who seek a chance to play without opportunities.

“Juan Mata is supporting the 2nd edition with a common goal to help create more opportunities for those less fortunate than us.

“There is excitement as we continue to prepare ahead of the second edition of the tournament. 

“There is a chance to show support to a unique group of women and girls who have passion and desire to play soccer but with less opportunities, this time with a campaign,” she concluded.

The second edition of Sseninde Women's Development Cup will be held on the 15th December at the Starttimes Stadium, Lugogo.
