Kansas City Chiefs vs Las Vegas Raiders NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

The Las Vegas Raiders head to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in a matchup that could tell us a lot about where both teams are heading this season.

The Raiders have been a rollercoaster so far in 2025, though the ride has leaned more toward the downs than the ups. Las Vegas started with a solid opening win over the New England Patriots, but that momentum quickly evaporated in a four-game skid at the hands of the Chargers, Commanders, Bears, and Colts. Last weekend, however, Las Vegas seemed to find a bit of footing, putting together a performance against the Titans that at least steadied the ship.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, have had their own set of struggles despite defending their conference crown. Kansas City stumbled out of the gates with losses to the Chargers and Eagles, though they righted the ship with back-to-back wins over the Giants and Ravens.

Game five brought an unexpected setback against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the team bounced back last Sunday against the Detroit Lions, taking a narrow 3-point lead into halftime and outscoring Detroit 17-7 in the second half to secure a 30-17 win.

Kansas City Chiefs team news

The defending AFC champs looked much more like their usual selves in last Sunday's 30-17 victory over the Lions. The Chiefs took a narrow three-point edge into halftime, then shifted into a higher gear after the break, outscoring Detroit 17-7 the rest of the way.

Patrick Mahomes was at his clinical best, completing 22 of 30 throws for 257 yards and three touchdowns, plus a rushing score for good measure. Isiah Pacheco ran with purpose, tallying 51 yards on a dozen carries, while Travis Kelce did what he does best, pacing the passing game with six receptions for 78 yards. Still, it was Hollywood Brown who stole the spotlight, finding the end zone twice on just four catches for 45 yards.

The Chiefs have got some injury juggling of their own to manage. Left tackle Josh Simmons is listed as questionable due to personal reasons, while no fewer than four players are eligible to come off injured reserve, safety Nazeeh Johnson (shoulder), linebacker Brandon George (undisclosed), tight end Jake Briningstool (hamstring), and offensive tackle Ethan Driskell (appendix).

Las Vegas Raiders team news

Las Vegas enter Week 7 with a few question marks on the injury front. Brock Bowers is nursing a knee issue and remains questionable for Sunday's clash, while rookie running back Dylan Laube is also uncertain with a lingering hamstring injury. On a more positive note, cornerback Lonnie Johnson Jr. could be activated from injured reserve and make his return to action this weekend, offering a boost to the secondary.

The Raiders finally managed to steady the ship last weekend, grinding out a much-needed 20-10 win over the Titans at home. For once, Las Vegas found a rhythm on offense, putting points on the board in all four quarters—a sign that perhaps the wheels are starting to turn in the right direction.

Geno Smith was efficient if unspectacular, completing 17 of 23 passes for 174 yards, a touchdown, and one interception. On the ground, Ashton Jeanty carried the load with 75 hard-earned yards and a score on 23 touches, while Tre Tucker led all receivers with 70 yards on five catches. Tight end Michael Mayer chipped in with a strong performance of his own, hauling in five passes for 50 yards and the team’s lone receiving touchdown.

The Raiders were short-handed against the Titans, and it showed. Star rookie tight end Brock Bowers missed his second straight game with a knee issue, and his absence has left a glaring hole in the offense. Unfortunately for Las Vegas, it sounds like they’ll need to brace for at least one more week without him. That means the Raiders will probably keep their foot off the gas in the passing game—but that might not be an option against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. If they want to hang around, at some point, they'll have to let it fly.

In the meantime, backup Michael Mayer did his best to fill the void, posting 16 full-PPR points against Tennessee—sixth-best among tight ends in Week 6. He's earned himself another look as a solid streaming play while Bowers remains on the shelf. And with Bowers sidelined, Jakobi Meyers could again become the go-to target in the passing attack.

Chiefs vs Raiders Fantasy Football

Patrick Mahomes (23.2 projected Week 7 fantasy points) is back doing what Patrick Mahomes does best — torching defenses and lighting up fantasy scoreboards. After two seasons of merely "very good" QB1 play, the Chiefs’ signal-caller has kicked the door back down to elite status in 2025. He’s cracked the top six fantasy quarterbacks in five of six games, reclaiming his throne as QB1 overall heading into Week 7. Simply put, he's back to being the standard by which other fantasy quarterbacks are judged.

The Raiders' defense isn't atrocious but let's be honest, it's far from good. Combine that with an offense that coughs up the football like it's a hot potato (11 turnovers already this season), and suddenly that defense spends far too much time on the field. They might've survived against Tennessee last week, but stepping into Arrowhead Stadium against Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs is a whole different animal.

Don’t be fooled by Kansas City's 3-3 record — this offense is humming. The Chiefs have dropped 37, 28, and 30 points over their last three contests while giving the ball away just once. Meanwhile, the Raiders have been generous hosts to opposing offenses, allowing 41 to Washington and 40 to Indianapolis. Their lone solid defensive showing came in a hurricane-soaked slugfest against New England, hardly a trend worth trusting.

Now, Mahomes gets another weapon back in Rashee Rice (9.1 projected W7 fpts), returning from suspension and expected to be fully locked in both physically and mentally. His return should stretch the field and open up even more options for Mahomes, who’s already in midseason form. Xavier Worthy was quiet last week with only two catches — though one went for a touchdown — but Rice's presence is likely to eat into his target share moving forward.

On the other side of the ball, Geno Smith (13.7 projected W7 fpts) remains a frustrating enigma. He managed to toss a touchdown to Michael Mayer, but another interception once again overshadowed any real progress. Facing the Chiefs’ defense next week is hardly the environment for a turnaround.

The lone bright spot for Las Vegas continues to be rookie running back Ashton Jeanty (11.9 projected W7 fpts), who's hit his stride in recent weeks. Across his last three games, he’s piled up four total touchdowns, 280 rushing yards, nine catches, and 70 receiving yards — the kind of stat line that makes fantasy managers grin. Unfortunately, Jeanty's breakout is being wasted behind a sputtering offense and an increasingly shaky Geno Smith.

Chiefs vs Raiders Game Predictions

Over the last three weeks, Patrick Mahomes has been nothing short of surgical. The Chiefs' star quarterback is completing over 70 percent of his passes, boasts a 113.4 QB rating, and has his offense humming to the tune of 31.7 points per game. And that's before Rashee Rice even steps back onto the field. His return in Week 7 might not bring instant perfection in timing, but simply having his top target back in uniform elevates this Kansas City passing attack back into elite territory.

That's grim news for a Raiders defense that's running on fumes at cornerback. Their pass protection leaks under pressure, and their quarterback has a worrying knack for coughing up the ball when things get messy in the pocket. Rivalry games often deliver a shock or two, but it's hard to see an upset brewing here.

Kansas City hasn't been the most predictable team this season, but last week's 30-17 win over a very capable Lions squad showed flashes of vintage Chiefs dominance. Despite converting just 4-of-10 on third downs, they rolled up 355 total yards and 26 first downs without a single turnover.

On the other side of the ball, Steve Spagnuolo's defense was stifling—holding Detroit to under 300 total yards, just 18 first downs, and a 45 percent third-down rate. Most importantly, the Chiefs have rediscovered their scoring groove, topping 28 points in three straight outings and winning two of them.
