The Kansas City Chiefs (0-1) stumbled out of the gates with a tough 27-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, hardly the kind of start they envisioned for their title defense.
Next up is a heavyweight clash at Arrowhead Stadium, where the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) come flying in fresh off a 24-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. For Kansas City, it’s more than just a Week 2 matchup—it’s a shot at payback after falling to Philly on the biggest stage.
This is no ordinary regular-season game. It’s a rematch of Super Bowl 59, when the Chiefs were chasing an unprecedented third straight Lombardi Trophy, only for the Eagles to spoil the party with a dominant 40-22 win. That loss still lingers, and the Chiefs will be itching to flip the script in front of their home crowd.

Over in Kansas City, the Chiefs stumbled out of the gates in their opener against the Chargers on Friday. Trailing 13-6 at halftime, they never found the spark to flip momentum and eventually fell 27-21. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown stepped up as the go-to target, grabbing 10 receptions for 99 yards. JuJu Smith-Schuster contributed with five catches for 55 yards, and veteran tight end Travis Kelce found the end zone on his lone score.

Philadelphia Eagles team news
The Eagles kicked off their season in dramatic fashion, edging out division rival Dallas 24-20 on Thursday night. Philadelphia held a slim 21-20 cushion at halftime and managed just a single field goal after the break, but it proved enough to seal the deal.

Saquon Barkley chipped in with 60 yards and a score on 18 rushes, while Jahan Dotson led the receiving corps, hauling in three passes for 59 yards.

Chiefs vs Eagles Fantasy Football
What’s going on with Isiah Pacheco (8.6 projected fpts)? Ever since that broken leg in Week 2 of last season, the Chiefs' back has been little more than a fantasy afterthought. Over his last nine appearances (playoffs included), he's averaging a meager 4.2 points, and Week 1 was more of the same. Pacheco touched the ball just seven times, once again locked in a timeshare with Kareem Hunt. At this stage, he’s best left as emergency depth on your bench.
The Kansas City defense didn't inspire much confidence either. While they registered three sacks and forced a turnover in the opener, the unit still struggled in a loss to the Chargers, and the road only gets rockier from here. Facing Jalen Hurts (21.9 fpts), Saquon Barkley (15.4 fpts), and a high-powered Philadelphia offense is not the matchup fantasy managers want to gamble on. If you've got the Chiefs' defense rostered, it's probably wise to park them this week.
The bigger concern for Kansas City may be its passing game. With Xavier Worthy questionable and Travis Kelce looking every bit like a veteran past his prime, Patrick Mahomes (18.4 fpts) is short on reliable weapons. Marquise Brown emerged as the de facto No. 1 target after Worthy exited early in Week 1, turning 16 targets into 10 catches for 99 yards. While that volume is enticing, banking on him to repeat against Philadelphia’s secondary feels risky.
On the flip side, the Eagles’ offense looks poised to shine. Kansas City held its ground against the run in Week 1 but had no answer for Justin Herbert through the air. Now they’ll be tested by an Eagles attack that’s even more balanced, with A.J. Brown (10 fpts) and DeVonta Smith (8.5 fpts) both capable of breaking a game wide open. Don't be surprised if Brown, who was nearly invisible last week with just one grab for eight yards, sees a heavy dose of targets to make up for it—after all, he’s never been shy about demanding the football.
When it comes down to it, Mahomes may still be the most gifted quarterback on the field, but in fantasy terms, nearly every other matchup edge tilts toward Philadelphia. This rematch has all the makings of another long day for Kansas City managers banking on their stars.
Chiefs vs Eagles Game Predictions
It may sound like armchair psychology, but the Kansas City Chiefs looked drained in their Week 1 opener. After so many deep playoff runs and back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, the shortened offseasons are starting to take a toll. Even more concerning, many of last year’s problems still linger. The offense appeared flat, the ground game was almost non-existent, and overall they looked a step behind.
On the other hand, the Philadelphia Eagles resembled the same squad that stormed past Kansas City in Super Bowl 59. If Jalen Carter can stay on the field and avoid any early drama, the Eagles have every reason to believe they can handle business again in this rematch.
According to ESPN's projections, Philadelphia holds a 47.4% chance of taking the win in Week 2, with the rest of the percentage accounting for the possibility of a tie.
