  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Salah was forced to leave the Africa Cup of Nations after picking up a hamstring problem, much to the disapproval of some former international stars. Egypt crashed out of the last-16 to tournament minnows DR Congo shortly after Salah's exit, leaving him to fully focus on his rehabilitation back at Liverpool. That appears to be going smoothly, after the 31-year-old uploaded a video on his Instagram story doing individual running drills.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Salah has been keeping a record of his rehabilitation for the hamstring issue and only returned to the grass on Wednesday. Given that the Egyptian King's agent suggested an initial recovery time of 21-28 days, Jurgen Klopp will be delighted with Salah's progress. The Reds boss has rarely seen his star forward sidelined through injury and will be hoping this year is no exception, as his side go for an unprecedented treble in his last full season in charge.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SALAH?

Liverpool did just fine in the Egyptian's absence on Wednesday night, with Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz stepping up and Darwin Nunez being his usual chaotic self in a 4-1 victory over Chelsea. All eyes will still be on Salah's recovery, though, as Klopp will hope to have him back for a rematch against the Blues in the Carabao Cup final on February 25.
