USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner not included in Nottingham Forest roster vs Southampton

Matt Turner was not named to Nottingham Forest's teamsheet for their Matchday 2 contest against Southampton on Saturday. The U.S. international lost his starting spot at the Premier League side to Matz Sels in January and has not regained it since.

He was not included on the roster for Matchday 1, either.

The 30-year-old shotstopper has been linked with a move away from Nuno Espirito Santo's team, although a suitor has yet to emerge with just one week left in the European transfer window. CBS sports has reported interest from Germany and Spain.

In 2023-24, Turner made 17 appearances across all competition for Forest, accumulating just two clean sheets.

During the summer international window, he represented the USMNT at Copa America, making three starts in the Group Stage of the tournament.

Forest signed Brazilian goalkeeper Carlos Miguel from Corinthians this summer. He was named to the bench as the No. 2 option on Saturday over Turner, with Sels starting in goal.

The U.S. international has one week left to find a new club for the upcoming season, whether it be on a permanent transfer or a loan away from the club. If he does not move, he could be potentially stuck without first team soccer until the January window opens.
