The result lifts Leipzig to fifth in the Bundesliga with nine points from five games, offering some breathing room after a turbulent start to the season that included a damaging 1-4 Champions League defeat to Como and back-to-back away losses at Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite the convincing win, the situation around Demichelis remains delicate. The Argentine only took charge in the summer, replacing Ole Werner, but inconsistent results had already sparked serious internal debate. Sport Bild reported that unrest was growing within the club, and Sky subsequently revealed that Julian Nagelsmann, who led Leipzig to the Champions League semi-finals between 2019 and 2021, has not ruled out a return. Oliver Mintzlaff, RB Leipzig's chairman, is said to be among Nagelsmann's supporters within the club's hierarchy.

For now, sporting director Marcel Schäfer and Red Bull's Head of Soccer Roger Schmidt have publicly backed Demichelis, with Schäfer pointing to the squad's heavy summer turnover and injury disruptions as mitigating factors. The 6-0 win strengthens that case, at least temporarily.

Attention now turns to Tuesday's Champions League home fixture against PSV Eindhoven, a match Leipzig must win to rebuild their European campaign after that opening defeat.
