Hamann can appreciate that stance, with the former Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern midfielder - speaking in association with Grosvenor Casino - telling GOAL: "I heard what Michael Owen said the other day, that he didnât understand why heâs gone to Germany, and obviously he sees it from a centre-forwardâs perspective.
"I think heâs still 40 or 50 goals short of that Premier League record. If heâd stayed, he probably would have broken it. For me, a trophy would always be a lot more important than individual honours.
"Iâve never been a goalscorer, but if you say to me, âYou can be the Premier League all-time top scorerâ, or âYou have two, three, five trophies in the cabinet at the end of your careerâ, I would always take the trophies over individual honours. Wouldnât be a question for me."
