Those qualities have been on display since the 24-year-old first completed a move to Italy in the summer of 2023. He was often deployed as a wing-back during his debut campaign with the Bianconeri, with more defending having to be done that he is accustomed to.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Weah was eventually returned to a spot on the flanks, with a berth on the wing considered to be his most natural position, but Thiago Motta has taken to moving him inside of late. Juve are looking for the New York native to lead their line as a central striker.

  • WHAT MOTTA SAID

Motta is convinced that Weah can thrive in that role, with Juve’s head coach explaining why the son of Ballon d’Or winner George has become a key part of his plans: “I like all he does. Especially the fact that he scores goals. Strikers need to finish an attack. He does many other things well, and it’s very interesting because he offers alternative solutions. He can play on the left, on the right, or as a striker. He helps, and he’s responsible. He understands what the team needs and his duties. We are happy he’s in good form, he must continue like this, whether he starts or not.”
