Is Harry Kane fit again? Bayern Munich star gets ‘important’ message from Vincent Kompany as 20-goal striker bids to reclaim starting berth after injury
Vincent Kompany has been without his leading goalscorer since seeing Kane forced off 33 minutes into a Klassiker clash with Borussia Dortmund on November 30. There were suggestions that a muscle complaint could bring the 31-year-old’s efforts in 2024 to a close.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Bayern have one more game to take in his year, before reaching the winter break in Germany, with RB Leipzig being welcomed to the Allianz Arena on Saturday. Kane has been training again during the build-up to that contest, which suggests that he is back in contention for selection.
Bayern’s head coach has told reporters when asked about a potential return for Kane: “I don't want to say now whether he will start or not. Today's training is important. If everything goes well then hopefully he'll play a role. It was good to have Harry and Phonzy [Alphonso Davies] back in training. Stani [Josip Stanisic] as well, even though he probably won't be there yet.
"We said previously that we couldn't replace Harry Kane like-for-like. Harry has this incredible sense of where he needs to be in the box. He's also helped us a lot in defence. He's one of the best in the world in the box - that's where he makes the difference. There aren't many players who can do that."
WHAT NEXT?
With Leipzig sitting just six points back on leaders Bayern in the Bundesliga table, Kompany will be desperate to see Kane play some part in a crucial contest. The England international has hit 20 goals this season, with that impressive haul including four hat-tricks.
