The Bundesliga giants smashed their transfer record in the summer of 2023 when luring prolific England international Kane away from Tottenham. Value has been found in that deal, with the 30-year-old frontman registering 44 goals in his debut campaign, but long-term planning is also required.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Questions are already being asked of how long Kane will stick around at the Allianz Arena, despite committing to a contract through to 2027. When the day does come for him to move on, then another proven goalscorer will be required.

  • WHAT KAHN SAID

Kahn, who has filled roles as goalkeeper and CEO at Bayern, has told Sport Bild of the ambition that needs to be shown in upcoming transfer windows: “Bayern can bring in Harry Kane, and Bayern has to consider Erling Haaland. Bayern can also think about Kylian Mbappe. This thinking is important because the club has achieved this standing. Of course it’s not just about players like that, but if you want to stay at the top, you need these superstars in combination with other characters and young players who can be integrated from the youth. The mix is crucial.”

Kahn added on the impact made by the club’s current No.9: “Harry Kane can certainly play at this level for a few more years. It was no surprise that he got off to this start. He is an experienced player at the top-top level.”

    WHAT NEXT?

Haaland, who has previously spent time in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, is currently on the books of Premier League title holders Manchester City. Mbappe, meanwhile, is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid as a free agent this summer – meaning that he may not be available again for a good few years.
