After triumphing at the Euros in 2022, lifting the trophy on home soil at a sold-out Wembley Stadium, England have enjoyed another historic year in 2023, even if it did not end in the Women's World Cup glory they would have been hoping for.
The Lionesses reached the final of the tournament in Australia and, even though they were beaten there by Spain, it was still a best ever performance in the competition for Sarina Wiegman's team.

England will have to pick themselves up as they look to complete the rest of their 2023 fixtures, then, with the newly-launched UEFA Women's Nations League on their agenda for the final few months of the year, a tournament linked to qualification for both the 2024 Summer Olympics and the 2025 Euros.
What fixtures have England Women had in 2023?
England started 2023 with the Arnold Clark Cup in February, an invitational tournament which the Lionesses started - and won - last year. For this edition, Belgium, Italy and South Korea were the visitors, with England beating all three as they retained their title.
However, just a few days later, the Lionesses saw their unbeaten record under the Dutch coach come to an end when they were deservedly beaten by Australia.
Continuing their preparation for the World Cup, England faced Portugal in their send-off friendly and Canada in a behind-closed-doors match in Australia. Both ended goalless.
The Lionesses enjoyed an upturn in form at the tournament, one which culminated in an incredible run to the final. However, their World Cup dream was ended by Spain, who were 1-0 winners in Sydney.
What fixtures do England Women have in 2023?
England's focus after the World Cup has turned to the new UEFA Women's Nations League. Wiegman's side are in a group with the Netherlands, their coach's home country, as well as Belgium and neighbours Scotland.
Nations League fixtures will occupy England's final three international breaks of 2023: September 18 to September 26, October 23 to October 31 and November 27 to December 5.
