    WHAT HAPPENED

In the 10th minute of Saturday night's match at Providence Park, Santiago Moreno produced a moment of breathtaking skill to break the deadlock against Sporting Kansas City. David Da Costa delivered a chipped pass from the left side of the penalty area toward Moreno, who controlled the ball in mid-air before executing a perfect bicycle kick that flew past Sporting KC goalkeeper John Pulskamp into the far corner of the net. After the ball hit the back of the net, Moreno sprinted toward the stands and climbed into the crowd to embrace his mother, who had traveled to Portland for Mother's Day weekend, creating an emotional moment that resonated throughout the stadium.
