The Seattle Seahawks (4-2) host the Houston Texans (2-3) on Monday night at Lumen Field, capping off Week 7 in what should be a fascinating cross-conference clash.
For the Texans, sitting third in the AFC South, the rollercoaster continues. They're coming off the high of absolutely dismantling a disoriented Baltimore Ravens side, 44-10 — the kind of win that makes a team believe it's found something special. But as we all know, momentum in the NFL is as fleeting as a lead in the fourth quarter, and the real question is whether Houston can bottle that spark and keep it burning against a team that knows how to grind out wins.
Seattle, fresh off a 20-12 victory over Jacksonville, has quietly put together a solid start to the season. Mike Macdonald's crew isn't flashy, but they're finding ways to win, leaning on a defense that still hits like it's 2013 and an offense that's finally finding rhythm.
The Texans and Seahawks have only locked horns five times in the regular season, with the 'Hawks owning four of those contests. This time, though, there's a wrinkle — DeMeco Ryans, Houston's head coach, knows the NFC West inside out from his days running the 49ers defense. Does that insider knowledge give H-Town an edge? Maybe a sliver but let's be honest, game plans don't mean much when the decibel levels at Lumen Field start rattling helmets.

Seattle Seahawks team news
Seattle, meanwhile, saw multiple injured players return to practice Thursday. Cornerbacks Devon Witherspoon (knee) and Riq Woolen (concussion) were back in action, with Witherspoon limited and Woolen full. Safety Julian Love (hamstring) returned in a limited capacity, and veteran defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who suffered a knee injury late in Sunday's win over Jacksonville, was a full participant. Tackle Josh Jones was limited after a high-ankle sprain, while outside linebacker Derick Hall remained sidelined with an oblique injury, listed week-to-week by coach Mike Macdonald.
Offensively, Sam Darnold has been steady, throwing for 1,541 yards with a 70.8% completion rate and 11 touchdowns. Kenneth Walker III leads the ground attack with 364 rushing yards, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba has hauled in 42 receptions for 696 yards and three scores. Defensively, linebacker Ernest Jones leads the team with 48 tackles, edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu tops the sack chart with 4.0, and cornerbacks Derion Kendrick and Coby Bryant have each snagged two interceptions.

Houston Texans team news
The Texans got a major boost in practice Thursday as several key players made strides ahead of Monday night’s showdown in Seattle. Veteran defensive end Denico Autry and rookie safety Jaylen Reed were full participants for the first time since being activated from the PUP list, kicking off their 21-day practice windows. Another encouraging development came from undrafted cornerback Elijah Huzzie, who took the field for the first time after a knee injury sidelined him at the start of the season.
On the offensive side, QB C.J. Stroud continues to show elite efficiency, completing 23 of 27 passes (85.2%) for 244 yards and four touchdowns in Week 5 with no interceptions, posting a 143.9 passer rating. That marked his second career game with 4+ passing TDs, and he’s aiming to extend his streak of high-performance games with 75+ completion percentage, 2+ TDs, and 125+ rating.
Running back Nick Chubb is in midseason form, rushing for 61 yards and his second touchdown of the season last week. He’s averaged 60+ scrimmage yards in four of five games and has a rich history in primetime, tallying eight touchdowns in nine Monday night outings. WR Nico Collins has found the end zone in three of his past four contests, while Christian Kirk has posted 75+ receiving yards in three of his four career Monday games, showing both consistency and upside in big-game moments.

Seahawks vs Texans Fantasy Football
Sam Darnold has been on a tear lately, posting elite efficiency over the past five weeks with at least 8.9 yards per pass attempt in every game. He's thrown multiple touchdowns in four of those five outings. That said, Houston's defense hasn't allowed a single QB1 performance all season. While they've faced quarterbacks like Stafford, Mayfield, Lawrence, Ward, and Cooper Rush, Darnold is best viewed as a solid QB2 this week—he’s not someone you aggressively stream.
Kenneth Walker struggled to see the field in Week 6, playing a season-low 34.5% of snaps and finishing with 11 touches for 37 yards. Meanwhile, Zach Charbonnet saw a season-high 60% of the snaps but only managed 37 yards on 13 touches. It’s been a nightmare split for fantasy managers when both are active. For now, Walker and Charbonnet remain RB3/FLEX plays: Walker is boom-or-bust reliant on explosive runs, and Charbonnet is touchdown-dependent.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba continues to dominate, hauling in 8 of 13 targets for 162 yards and a touchdown on Sunday—his second straight week with a score and third in four games. He leads the league with 4.49 yards per route run, firmly establishing himself as a WR1. Cooper Kupp, by contrast, caught 2 of 3 targets for 40 yards and his first touchdown with Seattle. He's had over four catches in only two games, so he remains a WR4/FLEX. But if Houston can slow down Smith-Njigba and Seattle’s run game continues to sputter, Kupp has a path to fantasy relevance.
C.J. Stroud had his best stretch pre-bye, posting QB14 (18.4 points) and QB1 (28.8 points) finishes. Houston’s offense has added pre-snap motion and play-action, which adds intrigue for Stroud as a QB2. Seattle’s secondary still has holes, offering enough wiggle room for potential fantasy upside, especially in 2QB formats.
Woody Marks looked poised to take the lead after a Week 4 explosion—119 yards and two touchdowns on 21 touches—but has since seen limited work (7 touches for 24 yards) while Nick Chubb handled 11 touches for 61 yards and a score in the blowout before the bye. Chubb remains a touchdown-dependent FLEX; his only RB2 weeks have come with scores.
Finally, Nico Collins has yet to deliver a true WR1 outing through five games, exceeding four receptions in only one contest. His ceiling remains limited unless the Texans’ secondary gives him a favorable matchup.
Seahawks vs Texans Game Predictions
When these two teams last clashed in 2021, the Seahawks cruised to a 33-13 road victory and have now won their last three head-to-head matchups against Houston. Their only previous Seattle meeting came in 2017, a thrilling 41-38 win, and the past three meetings have all cleared the over, highlighting the offensive fireworks when these squads collide.
Both teams enter Monday night riding solid momentum. Seattle is 4-1 in its last five games, while Houston is coming off back-to-back victories. Defensively, both squads have impressed: the Texans rank first in points allowed, the Seahawks sit sixth, and together they're limiting opponents to just 31.7 points per game.
Seattle looked particularly sharp on the defensive side in last week's win at Jacksonville, while QB Sam Darnold continues to deliver efficiently. But he'll be facing a Houston defense that's well-rested after a bye week and loaded with talent up front. Ultimately, this battle likely hinges on the Seahawks' pass rush overwhelming Houston's offensive line. Rookie C.J. Stroud could be in for a long night. Expect a tight, grind-it-out affair where Seattle's defensive pressure makes the difference and propels them to a narrow victory.
