Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

A rested and recharged Pittsburgh Steelers side will welcome a jet-lagged Cleveland Browns team to Acrisure Stadium on Sunday in what could prove to be a pivotal AFC North matchup.

The Browns (1-4) limp back to the States after a long, grueling trip from London, and an equally painful 21-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, where they once again let a late lead slip through their fingers. The defeat marked yet another frustrating chapter in a season that’s quickly teetering toward disappointment.

Meanwhile, the Steelers (3-1) have enjoyed a week to rest, reset, and prepare, and they'll enter this one brimming with confidence. Mike Tomlin's group sits atop the division after sluggish starts from both Cincinnati and Baltimore, a position few would have predicted a month ago. Their last outing? A gutsy 24-21 win over those same Vikings.

With one team running on fumes and the other fresh off a breather, this AFC North clash has all the makings of a statement game — especially for a Steelers squad that suddenly looks like it has the inside track in one of football's toughest divisions.

Pittsburgh Steelers team news

Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf reminded everyone in Week 4 that Pittsburgh still knows how to light up the scoreboard. The pair connected five times for 126 yards, including an electric 80-yard touchdown that had shades of the Big Ben era when deep bombs and highlight plays were routine at Heinz Field.

Still, the Steelers defense hasn't exactly lived up to its old "Steel Curtain" reputation early this season. They've surrendered 16.3 passing points per game (26th in the league) and have allowed multiple passing touchdowns in three straight outings, though much of Carson Wentz's success in Week 4 came in garbage time.

That said, there's every reason to believe this defense is trending upward. With Alex Highsmith and Joey Porter Jr. possibly returning, the unit could rediscover its edge. Corner Jalen Ramsey (hamstring) remains doubtful after his injury in Dublin, but Cory Trice Jr. is eligible to return from IR. Meanwhile, Calvin Austin III (shoulder) and Alex Highsmith (ankle) are all listed as questionable for Sunday — meaning Pittsburgh could be walking a fine line between loaded and limited come kickoff.

Cleveland Browns team news

The Browns have thrown themselves headfirst into a youth movement on offense, handing the keys to rookie duo Dillon Gabriel and Quinshon Judkins, and both looked poised under pressure in London, even if the scoreboard didn’t tilt their way. Gabriel threw for 190 yards in his first NFL trip across the pond, while Judkins bulldozed his way to 110 rushing yards, showing the kind of grit that's quickly making him a fan favorite. With Joe Flacco parting ways for Cincinnati, Shedeur Sanders may start getting some playing time depending on how the game unravels.

But life won't get any easier for this young pairing as they face a rejuvenated Steelers defense coming off a bye and bolstered by the expected returns of Alex Highsmith and Joey Porter Jr. Meanwhile, defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. (knee) is questionable, and rookie wideout Cedric Tillman (hamstring) has been placed on IR, taking away one of Gabriel's emerging targets.

Steelers vs Browns Fantasy Football

Aaron Rodgers (13.7 projected Week 6 fantasy points) hasn't exactly been lighting up the stat sheet. The veteran signal-caller has finished as the QB26, QB24, and QB21 in his last three outings before the bye — a far cry from the fireworks he displayed back in Week 1 when he tossed four touchdowns against the Jets. Since then? Just four total TDs over three games.

He's averaging a pedestrian 196.5 passing yards per game, ranking 26th among quarterbacks, and brings zero rushing upside to the table. In what’s shaping up to be the lowest-scoring matchup of the week, Rodgers profiles as a low-end QB2 — steady, but uninspiring.

The Steelers do get a bit of offensive reinforcement, though, with Jaylen Warren (knee) returning after missing Week 4 against the Vikings. His presence gives Pittsburgh some much-needed versatility out of the backfield.

Meanwhile, DK Metcalf (8.8 projected Week 6 fantasy points) has become the spark this passing attack desperately needed. The star wideout hauled in all five of his targets for 126 yards and a touchdown in the 24-21 win over Minnesota. The chemistry between Rodgers and Metcalf is starting to click — and with an extra week of rest, that connection could be primed to take another step forward.

On the other sideline, Dillon Gabriel (13.2 projected Week 6 fantasy points) made a respectable first impression in his NFL debut. The rookie completed 19-of-33 passes (57.6%) for 190 yards and two touchdowns in London versus Minnesota, finishing as the QB18 (16.1 fantasy points).

Gabriel was under siege for much of the game, blitzed on 34.3% of his dropbacks (fifth-highest of Week 5) and pressured on 40% of his attempts (sixth-highest). Yet he stood tall, taking just two sacks and limiting negative plays to only 11.4% of his dropbacks (eighth-lowest rate). He didn't deliver massive fantasy production, but he avoided costly mistakes, an impressive feat for a rookie in that environment.

Heading into Week 6, Gabriel remains a lower-end QB2 tethered to an offense with the lowest team total of the week.

If the Browns are to move the ball consistently, Quinshon Judkins (12.1 projected Week 6 fantasy points) will be the key. The rookie back was a workhorse in Week 5, racking up 110 rushing yards and 128 total yards from scrimmage, both career highs. He handled 23 of the team's 32 rushing attempts, including a 32-yard burst that showcased his power-speed blend.

With that kind of workload, Judkins is firmly in the RB2 conversation, and if he starts seeing more targets in the passing game, his fantasy stock could climb even higher.

Steelers vs Browns Game Predictions

Beyond the clear scheduling edge for Pittsburgh, there's also the quarterback battle, and that's where things tilt heavily in the Steelers' favor. Aaron Rodgers has been steady, composed, and efficient through four games, the kind of veteran presence that keeps an offense humming. On the flip side, Dillon Gabriel is still finding his footing as a rookie. To his credit, he’s already been a noticeable upgrade over Joe Flacco, bringing mobility and energy that make the Browns a far more intriguing underdog moving forward.

But this matchup might be less about quarterbacks and more about trench warfare. The Steelers' defense has been suffocating against the run, allowing the lowest EPA per rush over the past three weeks. Combine that with their four-game home winning streak over Cleveland, and it’s clear the odds aren’t in the rookie’s favor. Expect Mike Tomlin’s crew to make Gabriel's afternoon a living nightmare, forcing him into uncomfortable throws while daring Cleveland to run into a brick wall.

Both teams boast ferocious front sevens, and that could turn this one into an old-school slugfest on the ground. Cleveland leads the NFL in PFF’s pass-rush grades and sits fifth in win rate, while Pittsburgh isn’t far behind, ranking 10th and third, respectively. The Steelers also bring pressure on opposing quarterbacks at the second-highest rate in the league, a nightmare scenario for a rookie signal-caller still adjusting to NFL speed.

And let’s not forget: the Browns are tied for the fewest points per game in football. If that trend continues, it’s hard to see them keeping pace in hostile territory.
