Denver Broncos vs Dallas Cowboys NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

The Dallas Cowboys (3-3-1) remain very much in the playoff picture, and with the NFC East still up for grabs, every game carries added weight. In Week 8, they’ll head west for an interconference matchup against the Denver Broncos (5-2), looking to build momentum after a dominant performance.

Dallas enters this one riding high after a 44-22 rout of Washington, a win that evened their record and gave their offense a much-needed confidence boost. Following this road trip, the Cowboys will return home to face the Arizona Cardinals.

As for Denver, the Broncos are coming off a nail-biting 33-32 victory over the New York Giants, improving to 5-2 on the season. They’ve been one of the AFC’s more resilient teams, finding ways to win close contests. After hosting Dallas, they’ll travel to Houston for a matchup with the Texans as they look to keep their strong start rolling.

Denver Broncos team news

The Broncos, for their part, are looking the healthiest they've been in weeks. Most of their banged-up starters have been cleared for action, with only Jonah Elliss still limited after returning from a no-go status last week. Mike McGlinchey gave fans a scare with a leg injury but bounced back to full participation, a major boost for the offensive line.

Now riding a four-game heater, Denver sits atop the AFC West for the first time in nearly a decade, powered by a defense that's playing lights out.

As for the offense, Bo Nix remains something of a puzzle. The second-year quarterback has shown flashes of brilliance, but consistency has been elusive. That said, last week's jaw-dropping fourth quarter against the Giants when Denver erupted for 33 points after being blanked through three, suggests that when Nix flips the switch, this team can light up the scoreboard in a hurry.

Dallas Cowboys team news

The Dallas Cowboys are limping into Week 8 with a medical report that reads more like a grocery list, eerily similar to what the New York Giants dealt with a week ago. Yet, just like the Giants, most of those names could end up suiting up and performing at a high level. The one major concern is Trevon Diggs, who suffered a concussion earlier this week. Given the NFL's strict protocol, it's highly probable he'll be sidelined or at least limited heading into Sunday.

Meanwhile, Dak Prescott is playing the best football of his career, and it's not even close. He's completing over 71% of his passes, piling up 16 touchdowns against just three interceptions, and doing it all with the calm confidence of a quarterback chasing an MVP trophy. But he'll face his biggest test yet against a Denver Broncos defense that’s been terrorizing quarterbacks, leading the league with 34 sacks. The good news for Dallas? Prescott’s only been sacked eight times all season, a testament to how well his line and timing have synced up.

Still, the Cowboys' Achilles' heel remains on defense. For all their offensive firepower, they continue to hover near the bottom of the league in yards and points allowed, a worrying trend against a Denver team that’s catching fire.

Broncos vs Cowboys Fantasy Football

Dak Prescott (19.2 projected Week 8 fpts) stayed red-hot on Sunday, slicing up the defense by completing 21 of 30 passes for 264 yards (8.8 Y/A) and tossing three touchdowns. That makes it four straight games with at least three TDs, and not a single interception in that stretch. Sure, those matchups came against the Jets, Panthers, and Commanders, but let's not overlook the fact that his hot streak started with Green Bay.

Now, Prescott heads into a tougher test in Denver, but when a quarterback is operating with this much rhythm and confidence, it’s hard to bench him. Even with six teams on bye, Dak looks every bit the part of a steady QB1, the kind of player you ride while he's dialed in.

Javonte Williams (12.9 projected Week 8 fpts) is finally running like the back everyone expected him to be. He's clearly claimed the lead role in Dallas' backfield, and his workload keeps trending upward. Most analysts peg him as a solid RB1 this week, with his blend of power and patience meshing perfectly with the Cowboys' offensive rhythm. Still, there’s some hesitation about his long-term ceiling, tougher defensive matchups and the occasional game-script shift could make his production a little volatile down the road.

As for CeeDee Lamb (10.8 projected Week 8 fpts), he's back to being the heartbeat of this passing attack. After dealing with midseason injury frustration, Lamb' fantasy stock is soaring again. The Cowboys’ air-first philosophy puts him right back in the WR1 conversation.

Meanwhile, Sunday was a roller coaster for Bo Nix (20.4 projected Week 8 fpts) and the Broncos. For three quarters, Nix looked lost — hitting just 11 of 25 throws (44%) for 105 yards (4.2 Y/A) and drawing plenty of groans from the home crowd. Then came the fourth quarter — and it was pure chaos. Nix turned into a one-man wrecking crew, going 16 of 25 (64%) for 174 yards, adding two passing touchdowns, two rushing scores, and even a pair of two-point conversions.

That jaw-dropping 35.6 fantasy points in the final quarter weren’t just impressive — they were historic. It was the most fantasy points scored in any fourth quarter this century, trailing only Tyreek Hill's explosive 2020 first-quarter demolition of Tampa Bay.

This week, J.K. Dobbins gets a dream matchup against a Dallas defense that’s been gashed by opposing backs. He’s still splitting snaps, but if there’s ever a time for efficiency to turn into production, it's now. Slot him in confidently as a volume-dependent RB2 with sneaky upside.

Finally, Courtland Sutton remains Bo Nix's safety blanket and Denver's most dependable receiver. While he's not the flashiest name on your roster, he’s been consistently productive all year. With Dallas' secondary springing leaks lately, Sutton profiles as a strong WR2 play, steady, reliable, and just dangerous enough to make defenses pay for sleeping on him.

Broncos vs Cowboys Game Predictions

We're rolling with the Dallas Cowboys to spring the Week 8 upset over the Denver Broncos, and don't be surprised if the scoreboard lights up like a pinball machine. Even if Patrick Surtain II locks down one of CeeDee Lamb or George Pickens, this game has "shootout" written all over it.

Expect Denver to lean heavily on J.K. Dobbins early, trying to exploit a Cowboys run defense that's been shaky at times. But sooner or later, the ball will find its way into Bo Nix’s hands with the game on the line. His late-game heroics have been impressive this season, but let's be honest, it often feels like he keeps this passing attack in neutral until crunch time.

Meanwhile, Dak Prescott and this Dallas offense are humming. The rhythm, confidence, and precision in the passing game are the best they've looked all year. If it turns into a back-and-forth battle, and all signs point that way, give me Prescott to outduel Nix and bring home the win in a high-octane thriller.
