Cincinnati Bengals vs New York Jets NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

The Cincinnati Bengals are riding high after pulling off a thrilling upset over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7, and they’ll look to keep that momentum going when they host the winless New York Jets on Sunday afternoon.

The Jets enter this matchup desperate to stop the bleeding after a 13-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers dropped them to 0-7 on the year. Following this road trip, they’ll return to MetLife Stadium for a matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Meanwhile, Cincinnati is starting to find its rhythm after edging out Pittsburgh 33-31 to move to 3-4 on the season. The Bengals will look to climb back to .500 before heading into another home contest next week against the Chicago Bears.

Cincinnati Bengals team news

The Cincinnati Bengals are aiming to climb back to .500 this Sunday when they host the New York Jets at Paycor Stadium. Joe Flacco has injected new life into the offense, and the Bengals will need to ride that momentum if they want to stay in the hunt. Flacco has been sharp, completing 31 of 47 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns in his last outing. Chase Brown carried the rock 11 times for 108 yards, while Ja’Marr Chase dominated the receiving corps with 16 catches for 161 yards and a touchdown. Tee Higgins chipped in six grabs for 96 yards and another score.

Defensively, Cincinnati struggled against Green Bay, surrendering 409 yards at 6.8 per play and allowing 24 first downs. They did manage a respectable 5-of-11 on third downs, but the offense left a lot to be desired with just 268 yards and 4.3 yards per snap.

Injury-wise, there's a glimmer of hope for the Bengals. Star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson (hip) returned to practice as a limited participant, a promising step toward Sunday’s game. Head coach Zac Taylor emphasized a day-by-day approach, but seeing Hendrickson back on the field is a major boost. Tight end Tanner Hudson (concussion) also practiced in a limited capacity after missing last week and looks on track to clear protocol in time. Charlie Jones (ribs) and backup center Matt Lee (knee) were limited as well. Unfortunately, Cameron Sample (knee) and Marco Wilson (hamstring) remain sidelined.

New York Jets team news

For the Jets, quarterback Tyrod Taylor is listed as “day-to-day” after being limited in practice Wednesday, but head coach Aaron Glenn is leaning toward starting him over Justin Fields if he’s able to go. The Jets also had several key players miss practice, including Pro Bowl corner Sauce Gardner (concussion) and wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee).

New York is coming off a frustrating 13-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Trailing by just a touchdown at halftime, the Jets could only manage a single field goal in the second half. Taylor struggled, finishing 10-of-22 for 126 yards and two interceptions, while Breece Hall managed just 38 yards on 11 carries. Tyler Johnson led the receiving group with three catches for 60 yards, but it wasn’t nearly enough to turn the tide at home.

Bengals vs Jets Fantasy Football

Since landing in Cincinnati, Joe Flacco has posted QB13 (18.8 points) and QB6 (26 points), breathing new life into the Bengals' offense with weapons like Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. His Thursday night showing against the Steelers was solid, though don’t expect him to suddenly turn into an elite QB—he's more of a reliable, floor-based QB2 streamer this week.

Chase Brown finally delivered an efficient rushing performance last outing, making him a potential buy-low for teams looking to bolster their backfield, especially if the Bengals maintain this kind of production.

For the Jets, Tyrod Taylor saw action after Justin Fields struggled in Week 7 against Carolina, going just 6-of-12 for 46 yards in the first half before Taylor took over. If he starts, he's a steady, floor-oriented QB2.

The passing attack centers on Garrett Wilson, who commands nearly 28% of completions and still ranks 25th among receivers with 395 yards despite missing last week with a knee sprain. Tyler Johnson led the team with 60 receiving yards in Wilson's absence, while Josh Reynolds drew nine targets. Rookie tight end Mason Taylor has emerged as a key weapon, ranking second on the team in targets (30), catches (24), and yards (208).

Taylor disappointed a bit last week with Wilson out, but he remains a trustworthy option this Sunday against the Bengals. Drafted as the third tight end in the 2025 NFL Draft, he’s now a full-time fixture in the offense. With the Jets facing a Bengals defense that gives up the most fantasy points, yards, and touchdowns to tight ends, Taylor’s 21% target rate since Week 3 sets him up for a strong showing.

Bengals vs Jets Game Predictions

The New York Jets are still searching for their first win of the season, but they've shown more fight than their record suggests. Outside of lopsided defeats to Buffalo and Dallas, New York has kept things close, falling by just two points to Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, and Denver, while their remaining losses were also within a single score.

This week, the Jets are expected to turn to Tyrod Taylor as their new starting quarterback in Week 8, which could breathe some life into an otherwise stagnant passing attack. The offense’s potential gets an extra boost if Garrett Wilson returns from injury, especially against a Cincinnati Bengals defense that’s been leaking yardage through the air, surrendering a 114.3 passer rating, 71.3% completion rate, and 252.2 passing yards per game since Week 3.

On defense, Sauce Gardner has been lights out, playing at an All-Pro level and capable of locking down one side of the field. Still, that leaves either Tee Higgins or Ja’Marr Chase lined up against Brandon Stephens, a matchup that Joe Flacco will no doubt look to exploit early and often.

All things considered, Sunday in Cincinnati shapes up to be a tight battle, but we’re leaning on the Bengals. With the Jets floundering and their key pieces banged up, it’s hard to trust them to make any real noise.
