Los Angeles Chargers vs Denver Broncos NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

A heavyweight clash in the AFC West headlines the late Sunday slate in Week 3, with the Los Angeles Chargers aiming to keep their perfect record intact as they square off against the Denver Broncos.

The Chargers have been firing on all cylinders to open 2025, already stacking up division triumphs over both the Chiefs and Raiders. A win in Denver would give them a clean sweep through the West just three weeks into the season—an early stranglehold that oddsmakers have certainly taken notice of.

The Broncos, meanwhile, have stumbled out of the gates. Their offense sputtered in a narrow Week 1 victory over Tennessee, and costly late-game blunders doomed them in a heartbreaking loss to Indianapolis last weekend. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix has endured a rocky introduction to the NFL, coughing up four turnovers in two games, and facing a ball-hawking Chargers secondary won’t make life any easier.

Los Angeles is coming off a dominant defensive showing, intercepting Geno Smith three times in a statement win over Las Vegas. Coupled with a sharp start from Justin Herbert, the Bolts look primed to push their record to 3-0 and keep the early-season momentum rolling.

Los Angeles Chargers team news

On the opposite sideline, Justin Herbert has been sharp for the Chargers, throwing for 560 yards and five touchdowns with a sparkling 72.1% completion rate. Rookie back Omarion Hampton has paced the rushing attack with 72 yards, while the receiving corps has been headlined by Quentin Johnston, who’s racked up 150 yards and three touchdowns. Veteran Keenan Allen has chipped in with 129 yards, two scores, and 12 receptions, while Ladd McConkey has also been productive with 122 yards of his own.

Defensively, the Bolts are getting a lift from Daiyan Henley, who has piled up 18 tackles (10 of them solo) and added two sacks. As a unit, Los Angeles’ defense has collected five sacks and three interceptions across the opening stretch.

Injury-wise, the Chargers are monitoring Khalil Mack and Elijah Molden, both questionable as kickoff approaches.

Chargers vs Broncos Fantasy Football

The Chargers have leaned heavily on Justin Herbert (projected 19 fantasy points in Week 3), and the franchise quarterback is delivering. For the first time in his career, Herbert has posted back-to-back outings with multiple touchdown passes, no interceptions, and at least 30 rushing yards. His fantasy stock is ticking upward, but Week 3 might not be the best time to ride the wave. The Denver Broncos, even after their clunker against the Colts, remain one of the league’s toughest secondaries.

They've held opposing quarterbacks to a 56.5% completion rate (third-lowest), forced a 41.7 Total QBR (third-best), and limited passing production to just 5.2 yards per dropback (seventh-best). One off-day versus Daniel Jones and Indianapolis shouldn’t erase what this defense does so well.

Meanwhile, Najee Harris (5.6 projected fantasy points) has been almost invisible in his first two weeks as a Charger. Brought in from the Steelers this past March to be the presumed workhorse, Harris has instead been splitting touches with rookie Omarion Hampton. So far, he's managed only nine carries for 33 yards and three receptions for 25 yards, numbers that are a far cry from what L.A. envisioned when they signed him. Still, there’s optimism that Harris could carve out a bigger role and finally get rolling this weekend.

On the Broncos’ side, Bo Nix (17.5 projected points) has shown flashes but continues to wrestle with inconsistency. He opened the season with a mixed bag against the Titans, completing 25 of 40 passes for 176 yards while adding 18 yards on the ground. In Week 2, he was sharper through the air—going 22-of-30 for 206 yards and three touchdowns, but a late interception and minimal rushing output (one carry, three yards) highlighted his growing pains. Nix hasn’t been disastrous by any means, but Denver needs him to settle in and string together complete performances.

Chargers vs Broncos Game Predictions

The AFC West feels wide open with the Chiefs stumbling out of the gate at 0-2, and the Chargers have a golden chance to pounce. After their defense took a beating against the Colts in Week 2, it’s tough not to lean toward Justin Herbert and Los Angeles on home turf.

Sean Payton’s unit looked lost against Daniel Jones and Indianapolis, more like a horse without a rider than a disciplined defense. Still, there’s a sense this matchup could be the reset button Denver needs. Their recent defeat nudged the line by a point, and going up against a long-time divisional rival always carries a little extra edge.

According to ESPN’s matchup predictor, the Broncos sit with a 43.3% chance of pulling off the win in Week 3, leaving the Chargers with the upper hand and just a sliver reserved for a draw.
