Arizona Cardinals vs Tennessee Titans NFL Preview: Team news, betting, tickets, live stream, Fantasy Football and more

The Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals square off Sunday, Oct. 5, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, a Week 5 matchup that pits two teams on opposite ends of the momentum scale.

Arizona sits at 2-2, but that record doesn’t quite capture how scrappy they've been. In their latest outing against Seattle, the Cardinals looked dead in the water down 17-3 late in the third. Instead of folding, they clawed all the way back and tied things up with just 28 ticks on the clock, only to have their hearts ripped out by a last-second field goal. It was the kind of gut-punch loss that proves they can hang with anyone, even if the breaks haven’t always gone their way.

Tennessee, meanwhile, is a complete mess at 0-4. Last week's 26-0 drubbing against Houston was the kind of showing that makes fans want to cover their eyes. The Titans actually kept it close at the half, trailing only 6-0, but then the wheels completely fell off. The fourth quarter turned into a nightmare, with the defense giving up 20 unanswered and the offense never showing a pulse.

Arizona Cardinals team news

Darius Robinson, who left Thursday night's game with a pectoral injury, was sidelined all week and did not take part in practice. Bilal Nichols (neck) officially opened his 21-day practice window on Monday and made a limited appearance on Wednesday, signaling his gradual return to the defensive line rotation.

Wide receiver Simi Fehoko, still recovering from a concussion sustained Thursday, was in the yellow non-contact jersey on Wednesday as he continues through protocol. Rookie cornerback Will Johnson returned to practice Monday and Wednesday after missing the last two games with a groin injury, participating in a limited capacity but looking smooth and confident in drills. Offensive lineman Will Hernandez (knee), wide receiver Greg Dortch (collarbone), and left guard Evan Brown (hamstring) were also limited in practice.

Kyler Murray did everything he could to keep Arizona in the fight, going 27-of-41 for 200 yards with a pair of touchdowns to go with two costly picks. He also flashed his legs, scrambling five times for 41 yards.

Rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. was both a bright spot and a frustration, hauling in six passes for 66 yards and a touchdown, but leaving more meat on the bone with missed opportunities. On defense, the Cardinals got after it up front, piling up three sacks and nine tackles for loss, though it still wasn't enough to change the outcome.

Tennessee Titans team news

The struggles under center continued. Cam Ward had a rough afternoon, connecting on just 10 of his 26 throws for 108 yards with a lone interception.

Tony Pollard was the only real spark offensively, churning out 64 yards on 14 carries, while Elic Ayomanor led the air attack with just two grabs for 44 yards, a telling stat about how flat this passing game has been. The Titans’ defense managed a couple of sacks and six tackles for loss, but when your offense is stuck in neutral, it hardly matters.

Veteran wideout Calvin Ridley was held out entirely with multiple injuries. Tennessee's leading receiver in 2024, Ridley has managed just 10 catches through four games this season.

Did Not Participate (DNP): Blake Hance (shoulder), JC Latham (hip), Bryce Oliver (knee), Calvin Ridley (knee/elbow).

Limited: Mike Brown (knee), James Lynch (shoulder), Tony Pollard (rest), Jeffery Simmons (rest), Tyjae Spears (ankle), Kevin Winston Jr. (hamstring), Kevin Zeitler (foot).

Cardinals vs Titans Fantasy Football

Four weeks in, and Kyler Murray (18.4 projected W5 fpts) still hasn’t given fantasy managers a single QB1 finish. He's averaging just 5.7 yards per attempt — 29th in the league, a number that leaves him barely ahead of the struggling likes of Spencer Rattler, Bryce Young, Joe Flacco, and Cam Ward. The production has been ugly, no doubt, but with Tennessee’s leaky defense on tap, Murray sneaks back into that fringe QB1 conversation this week.

As for Marvin Harrison Jr. (8.4 projected W5 fpts), his Week 4 box score looked respectable thanks to a late surge, but the start was shaky. Two of his early targets ended in interceptions, a sign of his growing pains adjusting to NFL defenses. Still, once the Cardinals picked up the pace, he looked far more confident. A full, four-quarter performance is still missing from his rookie resume, but with the Titans up next, this could be the breakout spot.

Things are far uglier in Tennessee. Cam Ward (13.7 projected W5 fpts) turned in another dud on Sunday, hitting on just 10-of-26 throws (38.5%) for 108 yards, one pick, and a brutal 4.2 yards per attempt. Through four games, his finishes read like a warning label: QB32, QB27, QB22, QB32. At this point, there’s no sugarcoating it — Ward is a bottom-barrel QB2 until further notice.

And then there's Tony Pollard (10 projected W5 fpts). Yes, the touches are there, but the juice simply isn’t. Analysts are already labeling him more of a volume-based placeholder than a difference-maker. He’s the kind of player you start because you have to, not because you want to — and if you can sell him, this might be the week to cash out.

Cardinals vs Titans Game Predictions

The Titans are in free fall, and Week 5 isn't shaping up to be their lifeline. The Cardinals aren't flawless by any stretch, but this matchup has "get-right game" written all over it.

After dropping back-to-back divisional heartbreakers, Arizona has the perfect bounce-back spot here. Rookie QB Cam Ward has been running for his life behind a paper-thin offensive line, and the play-calling hasn't done him any favors either. That's music to the ears of a Cardinals defense that's quietly sitting top-five in scoring (18.5 points allowed per game) and top-10 in sack rate. Unless Tennessee suddenly learns how to block, this feels like a game Arizona should put in the win column without breaking much of a sweat.
