The Buffalo Bills roll into Week 6 under the bright lights once again, still stinging from a surprising loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football. Now, they’ll suit up for their second consecutive prime-time showcase, this time on Monday Night Football as they travel to Atlanta for a showdown with the Falcons.
Buffalo sits at 4-1 on the season, but that lone blemish came in gut-wrenching fashion. The Bills fell 23-20 to New England after clawing back from a 6-3 halftime deficit and a 20-10 hole in the fourth quarter. They managed to level the score late, only to see the Patriots snatch the win with a clutch field goal in the closing moments.
The Falcons, meanwhile, come in at 2-2 after a high-scoring 34-27 victory over Washington. Atlanta jumped out to a 17-10 lead at the break and stretched it to 31-16 in the fourth quarter before having to withstand a late surge to secure the win.

Atlanta Falcons team news
The Falcons' injury list grew a bit longer on Thursday, with Darnell Mooney missing practice because of a hamstring issue and Clark Phillips III sidelined by a triceps injury.
Head coach Raheem Morris described Mooney as "day-to-day" during his media session, leaving the receiver’s status up in the air heading into the weekend. That'll be one to keep an eye on, especially with Atlanta's passing game still searching for consistency.
Meanwhile, cornerback A.J. Terrell was a limited participant after sitting out the past two games with a hamstring problem. Morris made no secret of his excitement about possibly having his top defensive back return under the bright lights Monday night against the Bills.
Elsewhere, Natrone Brooks (concussion/shoulder) also practiced in a limited capacity, while there was some much-needed good news on offense: Nate Carter (hamstring) was a full participant, and defensive lineman Ta’Quon Graham (calf), fresh off his designation to return from injured reserve, was back in full swing as well.
Rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has thrown for 918 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions, completing 62.4% of his passes as he continues to get acclimated to the NFL pace. Bijan Robinson has been doing a bit of everything for Atlanta, leading the team in both rushing with 314 yards and a touchdown, and receiving with 270 yards as a dynamic playmaker out of the backfield.
Drake London has hauled in a team-high 24 receptions for 269 yards and a touchdown, while veteran Kyle Pitts Sr. has added 20 catches for 205 yards and a score of his own. Defensively, Jessie Bates III has been the tone-setter with a team-leading 24 tackles, Xavier Watts has snagged two interceptions, and Zach Harrison leads the pass rush with 2.5 sacks. As a whole, the Falcons’ defense has totaled 10 sacks and three interceptions so far this season.

Buffalo Bills team news
Let's start with the positive news for Buffalo; Josh Allen dodged the injury list this week. The Bills' superstar appeared to tweak something late in Sunday's defeat to New England, visibly limping through the second half, but Sean McDermott put fans' fears to rest by saying both Allen and Dalton Kincaid were merely dealing with "soreness." Still, while Allen escaped unscathed, Kincaid didn't — the TE landed on the report with an oblique issue rather than the rumored hand injury. It's not the worst-case scenario, but it's far from ideal given how tricky obliques can be, just ask Stefon Diggs in 2021 or Christian Benford in 2023. Rookie Jackson Hawes could see a bigger role if Kincaid's reps are limited this week.
Elsewhere, there's cautious optimism on defense. Both Ed Oliver and Dorian Williams were back in limited fashion, offering hope for a unit that's already without T.J. Sanders and Matt Milano — the latter aggravating his pectoral injury and landing back on the shelf. Safeties Taylor Rapp (nose) and Damar Hamlin (pectoral) were also limited, while Curtis Samuel (neck/ribs) once again found himself on the injury sheet alongside Dion Dawkins, who's managing a thumb issue.
The downside? Buffalo isn’t expected to open any return windows from injured reserve just yet — a smart move, considering the team’s upcoming bye week. There’s simply no point in burning practice days when reinforcements like Maxwell Hairston and Tyler Bass would have no one to run with. For now, the Bills are keeping things tight, banking on their stars to heal up and hit reset after Monday night.
Allen is off to a strong start, throwing for 1,217 yards with nine touchdowns against just two interceptions while completing an impressive 70.4% of his passes. He’s also been a threat with his legs, racking up 212 rushing yards and finding the end zone three more times on the ground. James Cook has been the engine of the ground game, leading the team with 450 rushing yards and punching in five touchdowns.
Through the air, Kincaid has emerged as Allen's go-to target, posting a team-best 287 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Khalil Shakir has chipped in with 235 yards on 22 grabs and two scores, while Keon Coleman has tallied 226 yards and two touchdowns on 21 receptions. Defensively, Terrel Bernard has been all over the field, pacing the unit with 26 total tackles. The Bills' defense has also made its presence felt with 13 sacks and a pair of interceptions to start the year.

Bills vs Falcons Fantasy Football
Josh Allen continues to operate in MVP mode, and fantasy managers are reaping the rewards. Through five weeks, he sits atop the leaderboard as the QB1 in points per game, completing at least 70% of his passes in four outings and tossing multiple touchdowns in as many contests. On top of that, he's adding his usual magic with his legs, averaging 42.4 rushing yards per game and punching in three scores on the ground. Simply put, Allen remains the premier fantasy quarterback and a weekly lock as a top-tier QB1.
Meanwhile, James Cook hit his first real speed bump of the season, held to just 49 yards on 15 carries last Sunday, his first game under the century mark in total yards. Still, given his consistency and role in this high-powered offense, there's no reason to panic. Cook remains a rock-solid RB1 heading into Week 6.
Khalil Shakir continues to serve as a steady, if unspectacular, safety valve in Buffalo's passing attack. He hauled in six of nine targets for 45 yards last week, respectable numbers that highlight his reliability. His production is slightly down from last season, averaging 4.4 receptions and 47 yards per game, but he’s still a dependable WR3/FLEX, especially in full-PPR leagues.
For Atlanta, Michael Penix Jr. heads into this matchup riding the momentum of his sharpest performance yet, a 313-yard, two-touchdown display on 20-of-26 passing before the bye. Consistency has been an issue, with just a 62.4% completion rate on the season, but the bye week may have given him the reset he needed.
Bijan Robinson has been nothing short of electric to start the campaign, pacing the NFL with 146 scrimmage yards per game and topping 100 yards in every appearance. He’s turning over 61% of his touches into positive gains and ranks eighth in rushing success rate (46.9%). Even if the Bills force the Falcons into catch-up mode, Robinson’s versatility ensures he stays firmly in the RB1 mix.
Then there's Drake London, who exploded before the bye with 8 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets, a performance that coincided with Darnell Mooney leaving early. London's best outings have come when Mooney is sidelined, and if the latter can't go, London vaults into WR1 territory with a heavy target share. If Mooney does return, London still profiles as a borderline WR1, though his ceiling might be capped slightly as Penix continues to iron out his early-season wrinkles.
Bills vs Falcons Game Predictions
The Buffalo Bills were laid bare under the Sunday night lights, a powerhouse offense masking a defense that's starting to spring leaks. Now, they face a well-rested Atlanta Falcons squad fresh off a bye, boasting one of the stingiest defensive units in football. The big unknown? Which version of Michael Penix Jr. shows up under the primetime glare. Given an extra week to prepare, the rookie should be sharper and more composed, ready to trade punches with Buffalo’s high-octane attack.
The Falcons may not have the firepower to outgun the Bills outright, but they’ve got enough grit and defensive steel to make life uncomfortable for Josh Allen and company in front of their home crowd on Monday night. Still, when push comes to shove, the explosive partnership between Allen and James Cook should tip the scales Buffalo’s way — expect a fierce battle, but the Bills’ offensive brilliance ought to see them escape with a narrow, hard-fought victory.
