The veteran coach had on several occasions stated he is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/news/the-difference-between-cameroon-and-south-africa-bafana-bafana-coach-broos-lunges-into-the-psl-again/bltdb755668a5d02ce2" target="_blank">not getting enough support from the Premier Soccer League teams</a>.The Belgian said he unsuccessfully tried to set up meetings with the league stakeholders in an attempt to come up with a strategy to ensure Bafana Bafana delivers.

WHAT HAPPENED?

After helping Bafana to finish behind the champions Ivory Coast and Nigeria respectively in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/broos-to-safa-i-want-to-stop-belgian-reveals-can-of-worms-that-made-him-shock-jordaan-despite-his-afcon-success-with-bafana/blt9feffe67e072d960" target="_blank">Broos was ready to throw in the towel</a>.He argued he cannot work in an environment that is not conducive to success if he does not get the required levels of support from the PSL teams.Safa, through its president Danny Jordaan, convinced him to stay, promising things would change. And now, Broos has met with PSL chairman Dr. Khoza to discuss the way forward.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

"It was not a long meeting, but he said, 'Look, I am just representing 16 professional teams and I don’t want to have this discussion of this meeting only with you and me. "[It is] much better that other people are also there... we meet each other because I can’t, not on my own, take decisions or speak for them,'" Broos revealed."So we postponed the meeting... [to] the end of April. Nothing more happened than that, and I could really understand his feelings about that. So we have a meeting at the end of April, and no problem at all," he concluded.

WHAT BROOS SAID

Broos is currently in North Africa with Bafana Bafana <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/broos-vs-mokwena-bafana-coach-blasts-sundowns-boss-for-using-media-instead-of-medical-channels-for-injury-reports/bltf7405eda29792b18" target="_blank">ahead of Fifa international friendlies</a> against Andorra and Algeria respectively.After this international break, the Belgian will then hopefully get his meeting with the PSL clubs and will then focus on the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June against Nigeria and Zimbabwe respectively.
