Arsenal cruised to a 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday at the Emirates in the Premier League. Gabriel headed the Gunners in front and then looked to have scored again just before half-time as the hosts went 2-0 up. Gabriel will be able to celebrate a win but he's been denied a rare brace by the Premier League. The Goal Accreditation Panel has decided that Arsenal's second of the afternoon is actually an own goal as it hit goalkeeper Henderson on its way into the back of the net, with the defender's initial header deemed to be off target.

It's still a good afternoon for Gabriel, who was named Player of the Match, and Arsenal who ended a run of three straight defeats with a comfortable win over the Eagles. The victory moves the Gunners level on points with second-placed Manchester City and just two points behind leaders Liverpool, although they have played one game more than their title rivals.

Arsenal return to action on January 30 against Nottingham Forest and will hope to continue their title push before a showdown against Liverpool at the Emirates on February 4.
