  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Coventry will not receive a penny if Gyokeres leaves Sporting this summer. The striker is in demand, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United all supposedly keen to secure his signature, but he is said to have been left furious by the Portuguese club's asking price of €80 million (£67.5m/$92m) and is willing to go on strike to force a move through. Coventry, despite negotiating a sell-on clause, do not stand to benefit.

    THE EXPLANATION

According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, Coventry sold their clause to Sporting last summer, as they funded a transfer overhaul. They spent £18m ($24m) to strengthen their squad, and it now appears that part of that was paid for by Gyokeres' clause being waived.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The sell-on clause was reported to be worth 10 per cent of any deal, so Coventry face missing out on a substantial windfall. Gyokeres made 116 appearances for Coventry, scoring 43 goals.
