    WHAT HAPPENED?

U.S. international Benjamin Cremaschi sealed a move at the end of the transfer deadline to join Serie A side Parma on loan with an option to buy from Inter Miami, both clubs confirmed Tuesday.

The deal runs through June 2026, and according to Fabrizio Romano, the purchase option is $5.24 million.

Cremaschi played 22 matches for Miami this season, scoring one goal and adding four assists.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

A homegrown player born in Miami, Cremaschi notched numerous accolades during his three seasons at the club. He became the club's first academy player to make 100 appearances for the side, and made three U.S. men's national team senior appearances while with the Herons

Yet, there was also some tension towards the middle of this season over the player's role at the club.

“I’m frustrated, I want to play," Cremaschi said in August. "I think the most important thing for me is to be at a very high level, and to get there, I need minutes and experience. I’ve played very little in these recent games, and I don’t think it’s because of my level. I feel good and imagine it’s for other reasons, but I’m going to keep trying.

"I go to the games and I have no idea where I'm going to play."

Cremaschi had been linked with numerous Italian clubs over the summer, including Juventus, so his landing in Serie A isn't necessarily a surprise. He joins a Parma side that was previously linked with two other American midfielders - Gio Reyna and the Houston Dynamo's Jack McGlynn. The club is owned by an American in Kyle Krause.

    DID YOU KNOW?

Cremaschi joined Inter Miami's youth ranks in 2021 and quickly made an impression, being named an MLS Next All-Star. His best career season with the Herons came last year, where he had four goals and three assists in 22 appearances.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CREMASCHI?

Parma's next game is on Sept. 13, giving Cremaschi time to get acclimated ahead of his potential first game with the club.
