USMNT star Christian Pulisic reacts to AC Milan's 'unfortunate' Borussia Dortmund defeat which leaves Rossoneri's Champions League knockout-stage qualification hopes in tatters

Olivier Giroud missed a penalty for the hosts early on which set the tone for a frustrating evening. Marco Reus converted Dortmund's own spot kick soon after before Samuel Chukwueze equalised before the break. However, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Karim Adeyemi made sure of the three points in the second half. Speaking to American coach Jesse Marsch - who is now a pundit for CBS Soccer - after the game, USMNT star Pulisic reacted to the Rossoneri's loss to Dortmund, his former club.

"Obviously it's unfortunate, but even after they went and scored we came back and got one back and then we're really pushing. I thought we had good momentum towards the end of the first going into the second half. And yeah just a little lapse in concentration allowed them to get two. Just to continue with that momentum and I thought we did a good job of that and we had a few opportunities, like I said, at the beginning of the second and just couldn't take advantage. It wasn't our day. They defended well, and they sorted a few transition moments. Obviously disappointing. Like I said, you know, there's some positives we can take out of it. But you know, all we can do is focus on trying to win the last game."

Milan are now in must-win territory to advance to the knockout round of the Champions League. Not only do they have to defeat Newcastle -- who will be reeling from a controversial penalty awarded against them in the dying moments of their draw with Paris Saint-Germain - they need Dortmund to beat PSG.

The Rossoneri return to action with two league matches against both Frosinone and Atalanta on the calendar. Then, in two weeks time, they return for their final UCL group stage game against Newcastle - where it's win or go home for Pulisic and Co.
