Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney ready to spend! Wrexham transfer talks confirmed as Phil Parkinson reveals when Hollywood co-owners ‘get involved’

Hollywood superstar Reynolds was in attendance for the Red Dragons’ latest League One fixture, alongside fellow actor Channing Tatum and Green Day frontman Bille Joe Armstrong. His presence in North Wales allowed Parkinson to discuss recruitment plans with one of Wrexham’s famous co-chairmen.

Further discussions are being lined up, as McElhenney joins the talks, with Parkinson saying: “It's always a bit special when Ryan is over here because he's the joint-owner of the football club. I'm in touch with Rob and Ryan through texting etc. as we go along because they like to be updated all the time. We've had a chat and we've got another one about that [transfer window]. Rob and Ryan only get involved when we're closing in on somebody.”

Wrexham have added Matty James and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson to their ranks on short-term contracts since the last window closed, with decisions now being made on which positions to bolster. Parkinson added: “January comes and that process is ongoing always because we've got players on loan that could come back, we've got other players who have been out of the frame that may want to go. So there's a lot of decisions to be made but my job is to sit down with everybody and make sure we make the right ones and keep the momentum we've got.”

Reynolds and McElhenney have given as much financial backing as they can to Wrexham since completing a stunning takeover in 2021. They are currently bankrolling a third promotion push in as many years – as the Red Dragons fly high in League One - with the plan being for the club’s award-winning documentary series to cover another step up the EFL ladder.
