Revealed: Erik ten Hag's three-part plan for turning Man Utd's season around

United made a winning start to their 2024/25 campaign as they edged out Fulham 1-0 in their season but the momentum quickly faded after disappointing defeats to Brighton and arch-rivals Liverpool. With only three games into the new season, the Red Devils are looking to turn things around for themselves and accordingly, Ten Hag has come up with a new three-part plan.

Per the Daily Mail, the Dutch manager has instructed his squad to be more aggressive on the pitch. He wants the team to score more goals while ensuring they don't concede. The team has already conceded five times in the first three outings as a result they are now determined to improve their defensive play.

The second plan involves keeping more ball possession. It has to be noted that the team managed to keep 56.8 per cent possession against the Cottagers, 51.8 per cent against Brighton and 52.8 per cent against the Reds.

Thirdly, the former Ajax coach wants his players to be more positionally aware on the field. This issue cropped up during the Brighton clash when Joao Pedro was kept unmarked inside the box which allowed him to score the late winner.

Former United striker Louis Saha recently issued a warning that the result against Southampton in their upcoming fixture could prove to be decisive for the Dutch coach.

Ten Hag and his men will aim to end their misery and pick up a win on Saturday as they face the Saints away from home.
