Real Madrid are inevitable! Man City and Liverpool face competition from Los Blancos in Martin Zubimendi transfer pursuit

Zubimendi has been attracting interest from clubs around the world since the summer window after he played an important role in Spain winning the European Championship. The Spaniard was closely linked with a move to Premier League giants Liverpool just days before the transfer window closed, however, the player eventually declined the offer and decided to stay back at Real Sociedad.

Despite the snub in the summer, the Reds remain interested in the midfielder and have been joined by league rivals Manchester City in their transfer pursuit. Now Marca reports that Real Madrid have also shown interest in the 25-year-old who has a release clause of €60million (£50m).

Since Toni Kroos announced his retirement at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, Los Blancos have lacked creativity at the centre of the park. Other than Zubimendi, the Spanish champions have put several names in their shortlist including Bruno Guimaraes and Joshua Kimmich.

Carlo Ancelotti's side are gearing up to face Premier League leaders Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday, however, they will miss the service of their star attacker Vinicius Jr due to injury.
