    TELL ME MORE

City followed up last week's derby day victory over Manchester United with a dominant display against Spurs. Shaw got the ball rolling with a fine first-half hat-trick, as two headers were followed up by a classy touch-and-finish on the edge of the box that brought her up to six goals for the season.

And there was no let up after the break, with the second period allowing Hemp to come into her own. The Lionesses star scored another top-corner screamer - this one with her weaker left foot - before laying on two assists to Jill Roord and substitute Laura Coombs. Coombs got her second in the dying embers in emphatic fashion, rounding out a convincing 7-0 victory at the Academy Stadium.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Shaw's trio of goals on Sunday was her second successive hat-trick at home in the league against Spurs. She scored three when the two sides met last term back in March, which City won 3-1. They were the first three strikes in a 7-0 scoreline on Sunday, which represents Spurs' worst ever league defeat.

    THE MVP

A difficult choice between two of the match's standout stars, but the manner of Shaw's hat-trick puts her just above Hemp in the MVP rankings. The Jamaica international fired three past Rebecca Spencer in the Spurs goal within just 14 minutes, affording the home side some serious comfort after what had been a cagey opening quarter. Hemp's contributions can't be ignored, though, and the England forward can feel slightly aggrieved that Noord pounced on what would've been her second right on the goal line.

    THE BIG LOSER

There are simply too many to choose from in the Spurs camp. Manager Robert Vilhamn can be criticised for his approach, which certainly left Martha Thomas isolated up front, but the defensive duo of Molly Bartrip and Luana Buhler had an evening to forget. Bartrip in particular had a torrid time, being run ragged by Shaw in the first half and Hemp in the second. The Spurs captain was guilty of some weak clearances and her positioning was often poor, with her frustrations evident in her blatant foul on Shaw late on which resulted in a booking.

  • WHAT COMES NEXT?

City march on the league, jumping back into European contention in third, and Gareth Taylor's side will hope to make it three wins on the bounce when they host Aston Villa on December 9. Spurs' first match after the international break comes at home to Manchester United on December 10.
