    Goals from Ollie Palmer, Elliot Lee, and Jack Marriott secured a comfortable win against local rivals Shrewsbury at SToK Cae Ras on Saturday, lifting Wrexham to the top of League One. Despite picking up 13 points from a possible 15 so far, manager Parkinson is not getting carried away with their results this term.

    He told The Leader: “It’s a great start for us, it really is. We’re pleased but five games in now, we know it doesn’t count for a great deal. But we have to be pleased with our work so far this season and now we can take a deep breath."

    Despite sealing back-to-back promotions, Wrexham were expected to struggle a bit more in League One this season. However, their flying start means that promotion to the Championship for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's could be a possibility - albeit it is very early in the season.
