Nicolas Jackson admits he 'wasn't very happy' with maiden Chelsea season as striker signs two-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge

Jackson has committed his future to Chelsea by penning a two-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge that now runs until 2033. The striker moved to the Premier League club in 2023 from La Liga side Villarreal and went on to score 17 goals in his first campaign in west London. It's a decent return by the 23-year-old, but he says he was not completely happy with his first season in English football.

He told Chelsea's website: "The first season for any player or any striker that comes to Chelsea is not easy, but I did okay. I am not very happy with 17 goals because I played the whole season without injuries, but it’s okay. I did good, now I hope to continue and do amazing. I am still in the learning process, learning every day, and trying to improve what I can do, and work on what I cannot do. It was not hard to adapt to the club because I could speak English and I’m a social person. It was easy to talk to everybody and get to know people. The only problem was the weather, but I got used to it! On the pitch I’m friends with everybody. It will always be like that. I hope this year together we will do more than last year and win something."

Chelsea will be hoping for more goals from Jackson this season, and he has started the current campaign well. The Senegal international has two goals and an assist in the club's first three Premier League games under new coach Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea are back in action after the international break on Saturday against a Bournemouth side who are yet to taste defeat so far in the 2024-25 Premier League season.
