  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The 35-year-old helped guide the Los Angeles club to victory in the MLS Cup final after coming from behind against New York Red Bulls. Having secured the trophy following a big move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, Reus addressed supporters who had gathered to celebrate the title win.

  • WHAT REUS SAID

"Give me the f*cking mic," laughed Reus as he came forward to address the crowd. He didn't hold back in the rest of his message either, shouting: "We are f*cking champions guys, let's f*cking go!"

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Reus can be forgiven for his excitement; the former Germany international had never previously won a league title, despite having enjoyed an illustrious career involving numerous domestic cup wins with Dortmund, two Champions League final losses in 2013-14 and 2023-24 and a devastating injury that caused him to miss out on Germany's 2014 World Cup triumph. The experienced winger deserves his moment in the limelight.

    WHAT NEXT FOR REUS?

It's only three months since Reus signed for LA Galaxy and he already has his first trophy in the bag for the club. He'll now enjoy a well-earned break before the new 2025 MLS season resumes, and given that the former BVB man signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the league winners and was described by coach Greg Vanney as a "top player" with a special "feel for the game", we can expect him to play a key role in the new campaign.
