  • Close to making a return to competitive action
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

After a nine-month hiatus due to an ACL injury, Williamson is on the verge of making a comeback to the pitch. Williamson ruptured her ligament while playing for the Gunners against Manchester United in April and was forced to sit out the summer's FIFA World Cup. However, she has already returned to full training with her teammates and can potentially be included in the matchday squad.

  • WHAT EIDEVALL SAID

Speaking to reporters, ahead of facing Everton, Eidevall said: "Tomorrow will be a little bit too soon, but after that, I definitely think she's in contention to be in matchday squads. Potentially in the next weekend's fixture."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Eidevall also informed that right-back Laura Wienroither, who suffered a similar ACL rupture in the Champions League semi-final against Wolfsburg, is progressing on schedule and could be available in the next couple of months.

"With a player like Leah returning from injury and potentially Laura Wienroither as well coming in here in the spring, being able to return fully to play, that puts us in a very good situation. We have a good balance in the squad," he said.

Whereas, while speaking on Steph Catey's injury status, Eidevall added: "It's looking good. There's not been much change since the game we had against Watford. Steph Catley has returned so that's an addition and other than that, there hasn't been much change."
