Lauren Hemp is Man City's saviour! Lionesses star inspires comeback to deny Aston Villa after Danielle Turner scores absolute worldie first-time volley

A fantastic strike over the shoulder from Danielle Turner left City goalkeeper Khiara Keating well-beaten as Villa took the lead just seven minutes into the match. The away side were unable to build on their lead, though, as City dominated and kept them from making more chances.

After knocking on the door throughout the game, Hemp pulled her side level as she rose to meet Chloe Kelly's deadly corner and head in. Just four minutes later, Alex Greenwood met a Kelly corner and headed across goal to Hemp, who was able to slide the ball in from close range and give her side the lead.

Kelly and Hemp linked up once again as another fine ball from the former found the England star to send a dangerous header towards the bottom corner, but Daphne van Domselaar did well to get down low and stop the ball from going in.

England international Hemp popped up when she was needed to provide the end product that City were unable to find for the first hour. Her first header was superb and she did well to slide in at the far post to put her team ahead shortly afterwards. Kelly's precise crossing was a big help on both goals.

Villa forward Rachel Daly abandoned her place at the back post when Kelly's corner came sailing into the box and it proved a terrible mistake as Greenwood's header found Hemp to knock it over the line for the winner. Had Daly stayed on the post, she would have had a better chance to block it instead of scrambling as it went into the net.

The win moves City above Arsenal in the WSL table on goal difference ahead of the Gunners' derby match against leaders Chelsea on Sunday. City will hope to pick up another three points and keep the pressure on their WSL rivals when they meet Everton next week.
