  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    CONCACAF released the latest edition of their team rankings heading into February and the start of the 2025 Champions Cup, and MLS side Columbus Crew remain at the top - despite falling short in the 2024 final to Pachuca.

    Wilfried Nancy's team retains their spot at the top, as does second place Club America. The rest of the top 10, though, saw a shakeup.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Lionel Messi's Inter Miami, meanwhile, fell a spot from seventh to eighth after crashing out of the tournament against Monterrey in 2024. The Herons then proceeded to fall short in both the Leagues cup and the 2024 MLS Playoffs as well - with their lone accolade coming via an MLS Supporters' Shield.

    Other teams that fell include Monterrey, Cruz Azul and Toluca, but they all remain within the top 10. LAFC are the other lone MLS team near the top, sitting in sixth.

    Club Leon moved into the top 10, making the climb from 15th. Meanwhile, Cup holders Pachuca also moved up five spots, from ninth to fourth.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CONCACAF?

    The 2025 Champions Cup begins Tuesday night when Cruz Azul take on Haitian side Real Hope. The Liga MX heavyweights, who recently added LAFC star Mateusz Bogusz to their roster for a reported $10M fee, will look to begin their journey towards the final.
