Revealed: Why Bayern Munich may be forced to end Joao Palhinha transfer pursuit with Vincent Kompany forced to consider Premier League alternative

According to The Telegraph,Bayern are prepared to offer around £40 million ($51m) for Palhinha this summer. However, this figure is well below Fulham's £60 million ($76.17m) valuation, which they have stood firm on since the previous summer. Negotiations are continuing, with Palhinha himself keen on making the move to the Bundesliga giants. Despite this, Fulham's refusal to budge on their asking price has left the deal hanging in the balance.

The current transfer efforts come after a dramatic collapse of a similar deal last summer. Bayern had agreed to a fee close to Fulham's £60 million valuation, and Palhinha even flew to Munich for a medical. However, the transfer fell through on deadline day, leaving the player to return to Fulham. Subsequently, Palhinha signed a new contract with Fulham, extending his commitment to the club until 2028, with an option for a further 12 months.

As negotiations drag on without resolution, Bayern are beginning to explore alternative options. One such option is Everton's Amadou Onana. The 22-year-old Belgian international has caught Bayern's eye and represents a younger alternative to Palhinha. Kompany has been impressed by Onana's performances and potential, making him a viable target if the Palhinha deal falls through.

With the appointment of Kompany from Burnley as their new head coach, Bayern have shown a clear intent to continue their strategy of targeting Premier League talents. Kompany's familiarity with the English top flight and his eye for talent has influenced Bayern's recruitment policy. This approach has already seen them secure Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. The young winger had attracted interest from top Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United.
