  • WHAT HAPPENED?

According to a report from Catalan outlet SPORT, Bayern are considering a transfer for Ronald Araujo this summer and have inquired about his situation at the Copa del Rey winners. There have been recent reports that the Bavarians are looking to sign a new defensive leader and are willing to let Kim Min-jae leave in the summer, if the right offer comes along. Araujo could be his successor.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

This is not the first time that the Uruguay international has been linked with a move to Allianz Arena. Two times in the past, the winter of 2023 and last summer, Araujo attracted interest from Die Roten.

In January 2025, he was said to be on the verge of a move to Italian giants Juventus, but then extended his contract in Barcelona, which was due to expire in 2026, until 2031. However, the contract includes an exit clause that allows him to leave in the summer for a fixed transfer fee of €65 million. The clause, however, must be activated by July 15.

In recent days, it has been reported that Bayern Munich are discussing Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen and Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen as reinforcements for their backline. But the option to sign Araujo is just as tantalising for Kompany.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

The report from SPORT further mentions that his current role as a part-time player under Hansi Flick could lead toa desire to seek a move and hand in a transfer request. Indeed, the 26-year-old has fallen behind in the pecking order at Barcelona, with Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez entrusted as the No.1 partnership.
