THE BIGGER PICTURE
One of Diego Simeone's requests to the sporting directors has been a new left-back. While they could agree on personal terms with AC Milan's Theo Hernandez, they failed to agree on a transfer fee with the club. This led to Atletico moving on to Robertson as a target as Liverpool are close to agreement with Bournemouth for Milos Kerkez.
DID YOU KNOW?
Atletico’s backup idea to Robertson is Digne who had a good campaign with Unai Emery's Aston Villa, where they reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League of the 2024-25 season. His contract with Villa is set to expire in 2026 and is yet to agree on a renewal with the club.
