With the games now starting to come thick and fast ahead of the World Cup, Arsenal's medical department have it all to do to keep Mikel Arteta's squad as fit as possible.

The Gunners have enjoyed a fine start to the season despite having several players - such as Emile Smith Rowe, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney - confined to the treatment room at times.

So what’s the latest when it comes to injuries at Arsenal ahead of Thursday night's Europa League clash at home to FC Zurich? GOAL takes a look.

    Is Zinchenko still out?

Oleksandr Zinchenko has endured a frustrating time of late when it comes to injuries.

The Ukraine international had missed a couple of weeks due to a calf problem, but returned to start against Tottenham in the north London derby on October 1.

But he picked up another calf problem following that game and has not featured since.

Zinchenko is now back in full training, however, as he closes in on his long awaited return.

Expected return date: Zinchenko could come into contention for Thursday night's game against FC Zurich, although Mikel Arteta might urge on the side of caution and wait until the Carabao Cup game against Brighton.

    What about Mohamed Elneny?

Elneny injured his hamstring in the win against Fulham on August 27 and has been absent ever since.

But the midfielder has been back in training for the past two weeks and is now expected to feature before the World Cup.

Expected return date: Elneny could get some minutes against FC Zurich in the Europa League on Thursday night.

  • Emile Smith Rowe Arsenal

What happened to Emile Smith Rowe?

Smith Rowe continues to be troubled by his ongoing groin injury and the club has confirmed that he has undergone surgery on the issue.

He has not featured since the defeat at Manchester United, when he was seen to pull up during the post-match warm down and looked visibly upset as he trudged off the pitch while in conversation with a member of the Arsenal coaching staff.

Speaking about Smith Rowe on September 7, Mikel Arteta said: "He felt discomfort in an area that [he’s been dealing with] now for a few weeks."

Expected return date: Smith Rowe's surgery was a success, but he is now set to be out of action until December, which means he won't be an option for England at the World Cup.

  • Matt Turner Arsenal 2022-23Getty

    Where is Matt Turner?

The United States keeper suffered a groin injury just ahead of Arsenal's 2-0 defeat at PSV Eindhoven.

Turner was replaced on the bench by Karl Hein and also sat out the Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.

Expected return date: Turner did not train on Wednesday so is not expected to feature against FC Zurich on Thursday night. He will also be a doubt for the trip to Chelsea on Sunday.
