'I can talk for hours' - Arne Slot responds to Mohamed Salah's bombshell 'last year' at Liverpool statement after seeing star forward torment Man Utd

Salah scored and set up two goals in Liverpool's dazzling show against arch-rivals United on Sunday at Old Trafford. However, after the game, the Reds star dropped a bombshell when he announced that the 2024/25 campaign would be his last season with the team. The 32-year-old, who is in the final year of his Anfield contract, is yet to negotiate a fresh deal with the club.

After the match, manager Arne Slot was asked about Salah's statement, to which the Dutchman did not give a concrete response. However, he heaped praise on the star attacker by claiming he could 'talk for hours' about the performance the winger displayed at Old Trafford.

Speaking to reporters, the Reds boss said, "It’s a lot of ‘if’. At this moment he is one of ours and I am really happy with him being one of ours and he played really well. I don’t talk about contracts from players but I can talk for hours about how Mo played today."

The Dutch coach added, "Everything that you want to see as a manager you saw in this game. There were difficult moments for us, United started really well but then we were disallowed a goal and there was no negative reaction. We kept on playing, scoring three, we could have scored more, two important saves from Alisson and the work rate was incredibly well without the ball and that makes it a very positive day."

The Slot era at Anfield began with three back-to-back wins in the Premier League. The team will be back in action on September 14 after the international break as they take on Nottingham Forest.
