AC Milan close in on new midfield signing as Samuele Ricci medical scheduled after €25m agreement with Torino

Ricci has agreed a four-year contract with Milan while an option for a fifth season will be included, according to Calciomercato. The deal will see the player earn about €2.5 million (£2m/$3m) while Torino will pocket around €25m (£21m/$29m).

Ricci is set to be Milan’s next signing after Milan sporting director Igli Tare confirmed Luka Modric will join the club as a free agent after his Club World Cup duties will Real Madrid. Milan are also in active negotiations with Club Brugge for Ardon Jashari and Valencia for Javi Guerra as Milan seemed to have cooled off their interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Granit Xhaka.

Tare said Milan’s midfield is the department in which the management will intervene the most after they failed to qualify for Europe last season. Tare believes that Modric will bring leadership and professionalism inside Milan’s dressing room as they will push to qualify for European competitions next season.

Once Ricci will complete his medicals on Thursday, the player could join the club for pre-season as early as July 7 as coach Massimiliano Allegri has called in players for an early pre season in order to get his team in their best condition in view for next season.
