Phillips made his first appearance for the Hammers since joining from Manchester City as they lined up against Bournemouth on Thursday. But the midfielder inadvertently passed the ball into the path of Dominic Solanke for the striker to tuck home the opening goal.

The midfielder joined David Moyes' team on loan with the intention of getting his career back on track after failing to break into Pep Guardiola's side since they signed him from Leeds in 2022. The 28-year-old made just four Premier League appearances for City this season before making the January transfer.

Solanke scored just two minutes and 22 seconds into the Premier League clash - the earliest goal West Ham have conceded a home Premier League since Michael Essien scored for Chelsea just 97 seconds into their September 2010 clash, according to Opta.

The England international will attempt to bounce back and help West Ham find a way back into the Premier League game at the London Stadium and will hope that his early mistake is not a sign of things to come during his loan spell.
