After failing to defend their La Liga and Champions League crowns in 2022-23, Real Madrid have bounced back in style in the 2023-24 season.

Although their campaign has been unexpectedly influenced by Girona's La Liga title challenge, Carlo Ancelotti has guided Los Bloncos yet again into a strong position in multiple trophy hunts. However, their season looks like it may be hanging on by a thread amid a full-blown injury crisis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

As such, the Merengues could be dipping into the rarely utilised January transfer market to secure further reinforcements to their ranks for second half of the season.

With the winter transfer window up and running, GOAL has got you covered with a comprehensive list of all the completed Real Madrid transfers in the 2023-24 season.

    New signings summer window

The capture of Jude Bellingham was without a doubt one of the biggest moves of the summer transfer window and the England international has continued to thrive in his new surroundings. Fran Garcia's versatility to operate at left-back, and right-back has been useful due to Dani Carvajal's niggling injury issues.

Brahim Diaz returned from a successful loan spell at Milan, where he lifted the Serie A title and got some playing time at the highest level under his belt.

With Benzema having left Santiago Bernabeu for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, Los Blancos were on the lookout for a reliable central striking option. This resulted in the capture of Espanyol and Spain forward Joselu on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Los Blancos also signed highly-rated Turkish wonderkid Arda Guler from Fenerbahce, beating perennial arch-rivals Barcelona to secure the 18-year-old playmaker's signature. With the club's No. 1 Thibaut Courtois sidelined for several months due to an ACL injury, the Merengues managed to source an emergency loan move for Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.

    Departures summer window

Real Madrid said farewell to a number of high-profile names following their underwhelming 2022-23 campaign.

The departure of star striker Karim Benzema in particular made plenty of headlines, with the Frenchman deciding to make the move to Saudi Arabia after opting against renewing his expiring contract.

Eden Hazard's spell at the Bernabeu also came to an end as his contract was prematurely terminated, with Mariano Diaz another player on the move after failing to live up to the high expectations.

Marco Asensio, meanwhile, might never have been an undisputed starter, but was a well-respected part of the Madrid squad and his exit might prove to be a bit of a blow. Fringe right-back Alvaro Odriozola left Los Blancos to join boyhood club Real Sociedad on the deadline day for a nominal fee.

There is a clear lack of depth at centre-back at Madrid when you consider it's a team expected to win every tournament it enters. The ACL injury to Eder Militao meant David Alaba has partnered Antonio Rudiger frequently so far in 2023/24.

However, Alaba is now also out with a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury, leaving Los Blancos even lighter at the back, forcing Ancelotti to use Dani Carvajal, and midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as makeshift centre-backs.

Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia are Madrid's two clear options on the left of defence, but hasn't done enough to stop the rumours swirling over interest in a new superstar left-back in the form of Alphonse Davies. Madrid are also searching the market fora new striker.

There is a clear gap in Ancelotti's squad which was created by Karim Benzema's departure last summer. Stop-gap signing Joselu has done an okay job so far but Madrid desire a new headline-making striker, with PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe back on their radar, while Mexican goal-machine Santiago Gimenez is also linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

    Departures January window

After a major clearout over the summer, there's not much deadwood left at the Bernabeu. Still, fringe stars such as midfielder Dani Ceballos, and injury-prone defender Ferland Mendy could be moved on if right offers arrive at the table.
