Two GOATs of global football have spent their careers battling for the right to be considered the best player on the planet. Argentine icon Messi would appear to hold the edge there, as he has eight Ballons d’Or on his CV compared to Ronaldo’s haul of five Golden Balls.

CR7 has, however, continued to make history in the goalscoring department, with the evergreen 39-year-old taking his stunning career tally beyond the 900 mark – in an ongoing bid to reach four figures. Ronaldo certainly boasts the physical attributes to rise above Messi.

With that in mind, it comes as little surprise to find that a video from MotionAthlete has shown that Ronaldo would wipe the floor with Messi when it comes to a sprinting contest. The 3D simulator, which incorporates the top speeds posted by both men over the course of their playing days, has Portuguese icon Ronaldo completing 100m in just 11.15 seconds – with Messi left trailing in his wake.

Messi’s game has never been about speed over the surface, though, at least not over any considerable distance. He is quicker than most over a couple of yards and boasts the technical ability to leave opponents chasing shadows. Ronaldo has always prided himself on being in peak physical condition, with strength in the air another weapon in the Al-Nassr striker’s arsenal that his eternal rival from Inter Miami does not possess.
