Man Utd officials 'sense' Chelsea will launch late Jadon Sancho transfer swoop as final asking price set for out-of-favour winger

The England international winger was deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford last season after suffering a falling out with Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag. He returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan, gracing the 2024 Champions League final, but was left out of the Three Lions’ European Championship plans.

A clean slate was reportedly presented to Sancho back in Manchester, but he missed United’s season-opening Premier League win over Fulham with an ear infection. His absence from that contest has kept the rumour mill ticking over when it comes to the 24-year-old’s future.

According to The Athletic, Sancho could still be on the move before the next deadline passes. Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have been credited with interest, but it is claimed that Chelsea – who have already snapped up Pedro Neto this summer and have a deal in place for former loanee Joao Felix – could make a play for Sancho.

United also “feel Saudi Arabian clubs could present an outlet for sales”, with a £40 million ($52m) asking price said to have been placed around Sancho’s neck. He joined the Red Devils in 2021 but has registered just 12 goals through 83 appearances in all competitions.
