Motherwell winger Tawanda Maswanhise announced himself on the international stage with a breathtaking Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) goal that is already being talked about as a contender for the strike of the tournament. The Scottish Premiership star, who has been in prolific domestic form, translated that confidence seamlessly into the AFCON as Zimbabwe faced South Africa in a Group B encounter on Monday.
Mohamed Salah shrugged off his recent problems at Liverpool to play a starring role for Egypt in their AFCON opener. The forward popped up in stoppage time to score the winner for Egypt in a 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe. The Warriors had shocked Egypt by going ahead in the match but were pegged back when Omar Marmoush equalised. Salah then delivered the killer blow late on to secure victory for The Pharoahs.
