Leeds United make their long-awaited return to the Premier League this weekend, kicking off the 2025-26 campaign with Everton visiting Elland Road.
Daniel Farke has overseen a busy summer in the transfer market, with fresh faces brought in to strengthen a side desperate to improve on its last two top-flight showings — seasons in which they shipped a staggering amount of goals. Sorting out the defensive frailties will be top of the agenda if Leeds are to make this stay in the Premier League a lasting one.
Everton, meanwhile, arrive with a spring in their step. With David Moyes back at the helm and their long-awaited new stadium now open, optimism is bubbling on Merseyside. The loan arrival of Jack Grealish from Manchester City has only added to the buzz, and after four straight bottom-eight finishes, the Toffees will be eager to prove they're ready to turn a corner.

Team news & squads
Leeds team news
All eyes will be on whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin makes the cut for Leeds' squad — his first appearance could come against the very club he departed on a free transfer this summer, a move that left no shortage of talking points.
Leeds, though, head into the opener short at the back. Jayden Bogle (hip) and Sebastiaan Bornauw (calf) are sidelined, while new signing Jaka Bijol sits out through suspension after a red card on the final day of last season in Serie A. On the flip side, the home crowd could get its first glimpse of several new recruits, including goalkeeper Lucas Perri, expected to take over from Illan Meslier, while Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sean Longstaff, and Anton Stach are all in line for debuts.
Everton team news
For Everton, there's been a setback of their own. Promising defender Jarrad Branthwaite has been ruled out for at least a month with a hamstring issue picked up in training, leaving Michael Keane to step into the breach. Vitalii Mykolenko, who limped off early against Roma last week, looks set to be cleared for action after tests suggested his groin problem wasn't serious.
Debut watch will be a theme for the visitors too, with Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall pushing to start, and plenty of intrigue surrounding how and where Moyes chooses to use Grealish if indeed he hands him a first Premier League start in blue.
