Wrexham keen on England international striker but £40,000-a-week contract makes Patrick Bamford deal with Leeds difficult for Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney

Bamford, who earned his solitary senior cap for England against Andorra in September 2021, is yet to start a Championship fixture or score a goal in the 2024-25 campaign. A tumble down the pecking order at Elland Road has led to questions being asked of his future.

According to TEAMtalk, several teams are mulling over January moves for the 31-year-old frontman. Genoa, who have already snapped up enigmatic Italy international Mario Balotelli, are said to be in the market for more firepower.

Wrexham are also in the hunt for goals, having endured injury issues in that department with the likes of Paul Mullin, Steven Fletcher and Jack Marriott. They are said to have asked about Bamford over the summer and continue to monitor his situation in West Yorkshire.

Bamford’s salary would be an issue for the Red Dragons, at least until promotion into the Championship is secured or a pay cut is agreed, with Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney unable to finance such elaborate agreements as Phil Parkinson’s side ride high in League One.
