    THE BIGGER PICTURE

No deal has been done, with the 33-year-old midfielder eager to avoid the Championship and continue playing at the highest level, but a possible off-field incentive for Eriksen in North Wales has been speculated on.

  • WHAT JANSEN SAID

Former Wrexham star Matt Jansen has told OLBG: "It's possible Eriksen may become an investor and that could be part of the deal. It would take a lot of money to persuade him, wage-wise. If they can reach those demands, who knows? He may want to join the party."

    DID YOU KNOW?

Jansen is not convinced that the Red Dragons should be investing so much in a player of Eriksen’s ilk, with there other options to be explored. He added: "I think all the way through the spine of the team, they need to strengthen. Then it's a case of having a good run. If they have that, with confidence and belief, it would push them to the top of the table.

"I would say they have a good four or five players to get, top class players, proven goalscorers, to get to the top level of the Championship.

"Most importantly for them is a goalscorer and you'd be looking at the likes of a Jamie Vardy or a Callum Wilson, free agents at the moment. I think they would both be a better signing than Eriksen."

  • WHAT NEXT?

Vardy has been linked with Wrexham on the back of his departure at Leicester, but the 38-year-old is yet to land a new contract, while fellow England international Wilson is reportedly set to link up with West Ham after severing ties with Newcastle.
