'Simply a weapon for us!' - Manuel Neuer gushes over Harry Kane after extending streak to 26-consecutive scored penalties

The prolific England international last failed from the spot on December 10, 2022 during a World Cup clash with France. He has been an almost guarantee of goals for club and country since then when presented with an opportunity to hit the net from 12 yards.

Kane has tinkered slightly with his penalty-taking routine, allowing him to become even more deadly, and was on target once again when facing Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga. Said strike helped Bayern to a 1-0 win that has kept them four points clear at the top of the table.

World Cup winner Neuer is delighted to have Kane on his side, telling reporters of seeing the fearsome frontman prolong his remarkable run of successfully converted penalties: "We need Harry, we know that. He's not just a brilliant striker from the penalty spot, but also in the box.

"He opens up a lot of space and the scoring chances we create are often thanks to him, even when he's supposedly not involved. And I think it was fitting for the game [Gladbach] that it had to be a penalty by him. Harry now has a great streak and is simply a weapon for us."

Kane has registered 21 goals for Bayern this season through as many appearances, with that impressive haul including nine spot-kicks and four hat-tricks. The 31-year-old is desperate for the 2024-25 campaign to be the one in which he brings his career-long wait for major silverware to a close.
