  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Manchester United’s all-time leading goalscorer returned to management in the summer of 2024 when inheriting the reins at Home Park. He is living apart from his long-time partner and four sons, while there are 10,000 miles separating Wayne from Coleen at present.

    THE GOSSIP

That is because she has headed to the Australian jungle, with Wayne reportedly being blocked from jetting Down Under himself despite believing that he could get cover in the coaching department at Plymouth. He is tuning in from afar as Coleen takes on gruesome Bushtucker trials in Oz.

  • WHAT WAYNE ROONEY SAID

Quizzed by ITV on whether he would like to face those challenges himself at some stage, Rooney said: “Maybe, if I'm not working, I would like to do it. But at the minute, obviously, that's not possible. I think Celebrity is the best one. And the one which we always said, if we were ever going to do one, that's the one we do. And obviously Coleen’s gone out there to test herself.”

    DID YOU KNOW?

Rooney added on being unable to speak with childhood sweetheart Coleen, with the pair having done their best to bridge a 260-mile gap between Wayne’s base in Devon and his family home in Cheshire: “I think it's the longest, you know, I've been without speaking to her since we were kids. And for the children, obviously it's difficult not being able to speak to the mum. But Coleen’s parents are helping out obviously, while I’m over in Plymouth living there at the minute with my work. There's a good team looking after the kids and making sure everything is done. And so, we're missing her, but we're enjoying watching as well.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Wayne has admitted to voting for Coleen to do trials on I’m A Celeb, as she is pushed well outside of her comfort zone, and will be looking for his wife to display the same kind of battling qualities that saw Plymouth snatch a dramatic Championship point last time out against Watford.
